I would personally not be truly happy helping others if I didn't have my own relationships and goals being satisfied first. That's not selfish.


Why wouldn't a person drive a car that makes them happy vs a car that they don't want? clearly OP wants another 86.

When people give advice about something (anything, not just cars), they are projecting their personal views, their own perspective, no one is exempt from doing this. It's just natural for someone to say "why do you need that?" because they feel they don't need it themselves.

But at the end of the day, if you want to do something and it's feasible, why not do it? Most people who ever followed their passions probably did so having to ignore a naysayer or two

OK then, F the snow/ice. I use to live in it when I was born till 10 yrs old in PA. I now live in CA, beach side. If you live in the snow/ice during those months, then it's most likely due to having a particular job that pays you X-amount of $$ , and/or your family lives there and it's just so gosh darn hard to get the heck out of dodge, and start a new life somewhere else. Suck it up, embrace where you live, take the good with the bad. As long as you keep moving in a positive direction that's all that really matters at the end of the day.

Congrats on the new car. As long as you don't need a bigger car, it is a good choice. As someone who went through the same naysayers, I am happy I went with the FR-S.

However, I don't know your situation. Professionalism is relative. You only need a professional* looking car if your brand relies on it (e.g. Real Estate Agent). Keep it clean and that's all people really care about. As a programmer, my car does not make much of a difference in my career.

Enjoy the new ride, welcome to the world of manual cars. It's cheaper to rent a bigger car for a day than it is to get a practical car that you dread a visit to the gas station instead of a car where you just burn fuel for fun.

Great choice with the manual. I don't care what anyone says ... a manual is more driver involved. That car is a blast to drive.

One good thing about winter driving is that shifting gears is a little bit easier. Less chance of stalling when on snow and ice.

Haha I have been selling real estate driving my frs for a couple years now. I have a couple of businesses that I run and deal in a very professional environment.

But I don't have kids and I've always been a car guy. I love my car and wouldn't change it. In my world I meet with people that invest millions of dollars with me and have no issue with what I drive. Just act like an adult and care yourself and professional manner. You'll be fine. Good choice on car!

Whenever I think I learn to not talk about what I don't know the ins and out of I get burnt. Go figure.

I have no idea what a real estate agent does other than what my two cousins told me. Both drive BMW for work and have a small sports car for leisure. They want the 4 door for visits though. As long as their car is not rusting to death and clean, I'll usually be okay. Otherwise it would make me think that they can't sell a house.

As someone who's never had to deal with real estate agents, I have no idea how things normally go. :) I already know my cousin will help me with visits one the time comes.
