RCE T2 + Raceseng CasCam helper spring not fully compressing
Currently installing my Tarmac 2's with Raceseng camber plates and ran into a small issue. I noticed that the mount between the helper and main spring seems to be making contact with the spring perch on the camber plate before the helper spring can fully compress. I guess this wouldn't be an issue if I put the helper spring on the bottom, but all the pictures I've seen of other peoples setups the helper spring is on top. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I'll post some pictures once I get home.

Similar situation (Raceseng + Bilstein) I just put the helper on the bottom.
It's not unheard of: https://images.rallysportdirect.com/...ntcmusjhdjq2p0 |
No issue with having the helper on the bottom.
PM a pic if you like and I can get a better idea of what's happening but I think that should take care of it. - Andrew |
Took some pictures to show whats going on with the front helper spring first in a free state:
http://oi64.tinypic.com/2eksute.jpg and compressed: http://oi63.tinypic.com/xdcc2e.jpg As you can see, the helper spring doesn't have a thick enough compressed height and the upper camber plate spring perch gets pushed into the plastic perch. Unfortunately the same thing happens when I put it on the bottom, this time its the adjustable perch thats hitting. The only solution I could come up with was to use the rear helper which is 10/60/80, versus the fronts 3/60/80. Since the rear helper has a higher spring rate, the coils are thicker and it is about half an inch thicker fully compressed versus the softer 3/60/80 which is just enough clearance. I took a picture to show how the fronts look like with the 10/60/80 rear helper with the suspension loaded up. http://oi66.tinypic.com/3586he8.jpg The only thing I'm missing is what was the reason for the fronts using different helpers in this case, I know kw v3s nowadays come with 10/60/80 front and back according to their website. I'm just wondering if there will be any issues running the softer helpers in the rear? |
I'm running the exact same setup. I put the helper on the bottom up front and the helper on top in the rear. Have no issues.
