Front speakers problem!!

I have purchase a pair of 4" speakers for the front on the dash, the mounting depth is 1"11/16 and it won't fit!!!! Have been searching around and can't find a pair of speakers that is shallow enough to clear the air duct. Someone please help and let me know which set of speaker would fit without any modification. Also tried 3.5" speakers but the mounting hole is totally off.

Take some pictures of it.
Does the diameter fit properly or is it just the depth?

Is the mounting depth available 1 11/16" or are the speakers you're trying to mount that deep?

For 4" the mounting bracket is perfectly line up. Just the magnet is touching the vent duct on one side. BTW I got the clarion base speaker which call maximum 30W RMS. I believe is the magnet too wide. And according to clarion website, they said the mounting depth of the speaker is 1"11/16

what you may want to do is get a piece of wood to use as a spacer...you can line everything up and should work just as fine.

Just found out is the bracket of the speaker is hitting the dash that's y it won't sit flush. I will need to grind a little bit of the dash in order to install it

Piktars?

Ok I just grind the dash to have a bigger opening for the speakers and use different hardware to screw the speakers down tight. But the speaker's magnet is sitting on the vent duct also. And the tweeter is touching the mesh grill( it's a 2 ways speaker). Luckily the grill can still lock tight and flush with the dash to keep the original look. and after the speaker been replace, I could say the voice in the song sound much more solid. When I remove the original speaker, I could not believe how small the magnet is and the quality is so low. Door speakers and rear speakers are in progess. Hope don't need to make modification like the front.

I would love to replace the factory tweeter too, but it is hard to find a tweeter now a day and without an external crossover. Where to hide the crossover is the main problem. And I could only find some 3/4" tweeter that is around 20-30W RMS. Also the factory tweeter have 4 wires going in to it, it is require to plug in for the front speakers to work. I could see wire modification will require but need to see the wiring diagram before making a move.

By the way I am in Canada so we don't have a huge selection here like the state does.

With adapters, your doors should be a lot more straightforward. What speakers do you want to put in the doors?

I used 1/8" ABS to mount a 3 1/2". Moisture from the glass would eventually trash a wood baffle whereas ABS will last forever.

Also needed a ring in the doors to mount a 6 1/2" driver. I will possibly be hunting down rattles today and if I do I'll take pictures of the mounting plates.

Since I am not planning to run a amp for the speaker(since too lazy to run new speaker wire). I am planning just the entry level clarion speaker. Now I have clarion 4" on dash and 3.5" at rear. Will need some research on the door speaker since they punch bass pretty hard as a 6.5" stock speaker.

I am just a newbie into ICE. so correct me if I am wrong on some stuff.

How are those hertz speakers? I had some 6 1/2" componants in my sti and they were great.

Love them. Kind of pricey but well worth it. The 3ways in this car sound really good. I did a bit of Dynamat in the doors because the 6 1/2 mids have a lot of kick
