Immobiliser location
Hi guys
I have an imported 2013 gt86 non proximity key with no keys that is a jap import to the uk, with no keys. A bit of a project car My local main dealer is kinda being helpful but not overly, if that makes sense. I cannot find the immobiliser, I cannot communicate with the immobiliser which leads me to think it is part of the engine ecu, which is not uncommon. I have the engine ecu off but the immobiliser light continues to flash. This makes me think it has s separate immobiliser now. Does anyone know if the immobiliser is part of the ecu or separate? If it is separate where is the dammed thing. Thanks in advance. |
Oh to add, I can't find any information by logging in to Toyota online because it hasn't got a uk chassis number that Toyota uk will recognise

The imobilser is a separate box to engine ecu.
Engine ecu is easy to swap out imobilier is more difficult Theor is a set of modules in the car that form a security set and this includes at least the dash cluster, imobiliser module and the engine ecu plus rfid chips in keys. Without a working key your in a bit of strife , your likely going to have to aquire a key barrel keys and eecurity module complete set or at a minimum the imobilser module from a donor car. If you swap out any of the modules in the security set then car wont start unless you go through a specific proceedure to sync in each new module into car. Swaping multiple modules at one is an unknown Pm me and i can link you to the toyota service manuals, but you likely going to need parts and toyota techstream and possibly dealer help to recode modules, some locksmiths may be able to asist but not sure with no keys |
Thanks guys, I am able to match keys directly to the immobiliser unit by eeprom, the problem I have is that I can't find it, without a uk chassis number and we don't have this model in the uk being online is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard. We only have keyless system for this year/model in the uk. If it was keyless then I'd be laughing.
I can see an awful lot of hours ahead stripping the car but a rough idea of the immobiliser unit location would be useful. Thanks again for the replies |
The ID code box is behind the HVAC box , to access it you must remove the entire dash , crash bar and HVAC box as a full assembly. Or take it to a toyota dealer and show proof of registration or ownership and they can reset it using the techstream and register new keys.
