Anyone have experience with FullBlown shortblocks?
Hey guys, so originally I was going to go with a forged internals build and give it to a shop here in Georgia, but so far I haven't found anyone that will do the job. (Tell me if you have someone in mind) So, I started looking at short block packages and I was told that Crawford has a really good one that has a history of reliability. I don't know if that's fully true but I researched it and it seems to be a bit pricey. My power goal is 400 whp on the SBD kit. I looked at the FullBlown Stage 1 shortblock instead and they have it for a good price. They offer 9.5:1 cr but I want stock cr so I guess I'd have to do custom. Does anyone have any past experience or know anyone that had the shortblock package from them? Do they have any type of warranty for it? Also wondering if it is overkill for 400 whp on E85 and is there any other way I could just do rods and pistons without having to do a short block package? :thanks:

I have the first ever short block they built. 30,000mi and it doesn't burn, leak, smoke, make any funny noises. Also it's been running 500whp it's entire life and LJ will tell you how bad I beat my car lol. Crawford on the otherhand has a long history of blown rods and burning oil, plus they're stupidly over priced.

Stay away from Crawford.

Could you explain why you chose your compression ratio? Is it because of a lack of E85 or are you running it as well? I plan to run E85 so should I get a custom block or go with the 9.5:1 as well?

If you exclusively plan on running E85, then stick with stock compression. Im pushing 450whp running E85 w/ stock compression, and also have Fullblowns stage 1 shortblock.
I have a flexfuel kit only because I switch back to 93 before storing it for the winter. As long as you have a solid tune, you should never have any issues. Granted I only have about 800 miles on their shortblock, Ive done multiple pulls to redline without a single issue so far. |
