Roofline: Form over function.
 

Just wondering if people here prefer the roofline on the MK1/MK3 over the MK2 and if they'd rather have it over the MK2 even though it was redesigned to give the driver a better view of the road?

I think I would go with the roof line of the MK1/MK3 even if it meant slight restricted vision as I think its one of the main visual things that defines this car.

I like the original roof better looks wise, but I prefer visibility over looks.

Edit: I should clarify. I trust the feedback from the test drivers.

By the thread title I was expecting an aerodynamic thesis, but now it appears the context is a-pillar placement between the 3 concepts to date.

Or am I missing the point entirely? Perhaps some comparison pictures to highlight the point?

^ Pics show how much the fenders are growing. Not something I like, because it makes wheels and tires look smaller, the bigger the fender bulges are...

This brings up an interesting point. As some of you may know the 5th generation Camaro has been repeatedly ripped for it's "poor" visibility from inside the cockpit. I don't know the average height of automotive journalists, but I can say at my height (relatively tall) that I see perfectly fine out of the car from the drivers seat looking forward. However, looking out of the rear window SUCKS. totally function follows form there. With this car, because it's already so compact I think it's more a question of seating position. In the 370Z I find (at least for me) you sit up too high, and even still the visibility really isn't all that great. The FT86 platform seems to have a somewhat unique layout amongst the competition because of the compactness of the engine and gear box layout allowing for seemingly more interior room, including the roof design allowing for thinner A pillars and so fourth. All a result of packaging.

MK3 FTW! The fenders bring it a more exotic car look.

Agreed, i'm all for the clean sleekness of the mk1, but the mk3 brings something else to the table. More of a beastly, exotic, predatory feeling.

Can't be loving the fenders more, i like the roof arch more on the mk3 too. Seems to leave more room for a trunk as well

mk3 is properly updated... it is something the LFA never really did and as such it does look a tad outdated.

Best visibility is best. I care what the car is like from the inside a lot more than what it's like from the outside.
