Issue with HKS Flash Editor

Anyone run into the issue for NA options where it says, "ECU is not correct"? It's able to get car status with temps, etc...

The Flash Editor is model 42015-AT001 with INIT_Ver.2.04 . I have a 2013 FR-S.

I bought this from an eBay seller who claims that it was new. It appears new but there was no plastic wrap / seal on the box. I'm wondering if I just need to clear any existing data on it?? Thanks.

I have no experience with the hks flash device but that error sounds like the kns box does not recognise your cars ecu calibration id.ecu in these cars have many different calibrations especially early models their was a number of updates.

Talk to hks , i think their is a usa store.

Also your car could be tuned with ecutek or brzedit whick locks ecu

Did you install software on PC etc first? Any solution to this?

I did have the software on the PC. For some reason this flash editor would only work with a particular ECU ID which seems strange. I'm in the process of returning it to the eBay seller.

I might end up using ECUTEK instead since the HKS USA web site seems to just redirect to their Japan web site now.

It looks like a nifty little item but no good if it won't work. Ecutek is the way to go if you plan to upgrade in the future with flex fuel or forced induction.

The only thing I would say that may be the reason for this error is that you're using the JDM HKS Flash Editor with a US Scion FRS. I think the HKS Flash Editor only works with JDM Toyota 86 ECUs. I have one and it works perfectly for my JDM 86. I'm trying to remember if it stated that on their website.

Toyota 86 in the building!
