Can't get over how good the screen looks. It's nice.
For those who are looking to upgrade that trash starlink system or older unit.
Surprise these android headunits are moving up so fast. The value is just incredible

I need to pick up one of those radio dash pieces. Trying to find a good deal if anyone knows any. https://www.subaru.ca/Content/7907/m...BRZ_Medium.jpg

Interested to hear how it performs 6mo-1yr from now. That's the main complaints vs most inexpensive android head units is that everything starts out great but once you start to load up your favorite apps music and so on then it slows down drastically and becomes very buggy. Hope thats no longer the case and they have resolved these issues.

It's been pretty well established over on XDA that the only way to improve the performance of the 1GB RAM units is to either solder in 2GB or replace Google Play Services with MicroG, both of which are somewhat tedious.

My soldering skills aren't up to snuff so I'm waiting for the next ROM revision by Malaysk which will hopefully incorporate MicroG.

To anyone considering a 1GB unit I would suggest making sure the MCU is of the MTCB/C/D type. The ROMs by Malaysk, DSA8310, Booroondook, et al. will only run on those and you will otherwise be stuck with whatever the reseller (Joying, Pumpkin, Eonon, Panlelo, whoever) offers in terms of updates/upgrades, which is not a good thing IMO.

Looks nice, I am looking to replace my oem one. Now that I saw this I'm stuck between the joying or this one.

I got a CaFi Dashinq4 setup in my BRZ and I've been trying to figure out how to speed it up some. It's only 1GB and I rooted it to run a custom launcher and stuff like Viper but it's dragging and buggy with new app versions (force quitting out of waze and pandora constantly). Do you have the link for the XDA post about resoldering more RAM and/or running MicroG? First I've heard of MicroG but I honestly don't know what type of MCU the dashlinq4 has..

I'm in the same boat...I have an older 1GB MTCB Joying that works well but is slow as f*ck.

From the pictures here:

it looks like the MCU is not of the MTCB/C/D type. If it has the same RK3066 or RK3188 SoM as most of these seem to then chances are the RAM is the same. Some info here:

and here, where there were a couple of group buys. The guy that did the last one ('oskaratk') might have some left over:

Here's a couple of threads regarding MicroG on MTCB/D units...I would imagine it'd be similar on a rooted Dashlinq. I haven't tried it yet, it looks like kind of a pain in the ass lol.

The only thing keeping me from getting an Android head unit is the lack of hardware satellite radio support. I know I could use the SiriusXM app but that requires me to pay for cell data on top of the subscription fee AND I'm limited to cell coverage areas which is a big problem for me.

What are the harnesses/ extra tid bits you need for the oem wiring?

i have kept it pretty bare,

Just spotify and pandora. I mean that's all you really need.

The gps stuff like waze isn't snappy but it's not bad honestly.

Heh, might just end up getting a newer Android based headunit... any idea which is the fastest/most up to date Android HU out there now that fits the 7" Toyota slot in our cars?

That would probably be this guy here:

https://www.amazon.com/Android-Highl...=joying+toyota

This is the only one I know of that is 200mmx100mm, so no dash kit should be needed. They do make a universal model that I think is 178mm wide as well.

It is Intel SoFIA based, so no custom ROMs at the moment unfortunately, but that's about the only downside I see compared to the Rockchip/PX5 based units.

Couple of threads on the Joying 2GB RAM SoFIA models:
