My quest for a BRZ in China is over!

Cuz BMW finally announced pricing for the F30 in China! They are gonna have 2 version of the 3 series here, one standard wheelbase which will be imported from Germany and a long wheelbase version which will be produce locally in China.

I'm gonna go with the short wheelbase imported 328i Sport. The pricing really amazed me as the previous chinese built E90 325i with the same options cost $490k RMB. The new imported 328i sport is only $420k RMB!!!

I finally have a more dynamic car to drive yet low profile while I'm in China and not have to take my GTR out on every occasion! Driving a GTR already stands out, and driving a GTR from Hong Kong stands out even more!

Since I will be getting my 86 in Hong Kong in November, so I'm not missing out!

:happy0180::happy0180::happy0180:

Will keep you guys posted as I take delivery! Now to see which one arrives first...

Just remember you can only drive one car at a time... O_o;

Didn't see this until recently, but congrats man! Obviously it's good to get more car for less money. :D

I know you're just excited man, but I think there are better ways of going about boasting. I am excited for you, I'm excited for any car enthusiast, but I see you keep mentioning "*sigh* my 700,000+ rmb sports car draws too much attention, I'm so glad I can get a 400,000 rmb car so i dont draw as much attention! Oh Im so glad"

You kinda see where I'm coming from? I'm not bitter, just trying to help you see how you're coming off a bit.

I know, that's why I mentioned it. I'd expect a GTR to be more like 1.2 million RMB.

Took delivery of the 328i already! Since there was no option available for the China market(it comes fully loaded)... I just took whatever they had in stock.... I originally wanted Alpine White or Mineral White (metallic white) but both had to be ordered and be put into the end of the waiting list... I guess I'll just wrap it in flat white or black or just repaint the whole car. Labor work in China is cheap anyways! LOL

I really appreciated the work the staff here has done. They would try really hard to make the deal and search all over to find a car for me. Even though to be honest, none of the staff knows anything. All they know is take my money and give me a car. HK on the other hand, there are still 2 more months wait to get my hands of the 86!!!

According to BMW China, 2012 will be the only year that the short wheelbase 3 series will be imported from Germany, Starting with 2013 production, it will be built locally in China (including the N20 engine!)

Compared to my friend's E90 325i, this car just in stock form is a lot more powerful than it, and fuel consumption is down close to 40%! But steering wheel suffer a bit compared to the old E90 hydraulic system. Overall, I feel this car is a great purchase! Other than the 86, this car has to be one of the best deal for 2012! I can't wait to mod it! Another thing is that I have no idea why BMW put in a semi working comfort access in this car. I still have to push the unlock button on my remote to unlock the doors, but I could leave the key in my pocket and just push start the car.

Anyways, the GTR is not as expensive as you guys think. I paid just under 1m HKD back in 2008, and the current used car value for a GTR in HK is around 600k only. After all the sales tax, insurance, license fee on the 328i, it comes out to be around 477k RMB, and converting back to HKD, it's close to the price for an used GTR in HK. The GTR does draw a lot more attention in China. There are only 1 other R35 in my neighbourhood. But in HK, there are already 5 just in my apartment's parking lot alone! But then again, the MSRP for a GTR in China is 1.4-1.6m RMB... Which is close to double of what I paid for 4 years ago!!!

I will try to do a photo shoot later when I have more time and the weather clears up more.

How is that N20 engine to drive? Technologically it's a real work of art, "micro hybrid", direct injection, twin scroll turbo I think with electronic boost control, and Valvetronic, glad to hear they're trying to produce more of it!

with the 8AT, this car is very usable in the real world. lots of torque down low and almost dual clutch like response with the shifting. Its a huge improvement on efficiency over the NA Inline 6 BMW had IMO. It makes driving the E90 325i feels like driving a slug! The Inline 6 is still far smoother. But i'd take efficiency over smoothness. I can't wait to have this car chipped and have intake/exhaust installed.
