Lapping App

A friend told me about this App called "Track Addict". I bought the 9 dollar version and am pretty happy with it. Not as complete as some of the other apps I have used but by far the simplest and easiest I have ever used. Doesn't even need an external GPS. Here's a demo I made in a parking lot.

Here's the link for the app

Was looking for something like this, thanks!

You'll get much more accurate data on the track with an external GPS. At high speeds, a phone's built-in GPS is not enough. Very easy to add an external:

XGPS150 is 5Hz (5 times per second) and $82: http://amzn.to/2pncia7
XGPS160 is 10Hz (10 times per second) and $135: http://amzn.to/2q7JCzB

I use the cheaper XGPS150 and it works well.

Thanks for this... I was debating about Harry's timer, but it was unclear what features/output you would get using just the phone. I was debating on just using my dash cam, but I might spend the $9 to try it out.

Track Addict will work with an external GPS such as the OSTAZ 818XT

The upside of the Qstarz 818XT GPS is that it's 10Hz and only $85: http://amzn.to/2qgvRhs

The downside is that, at least for Harry's Lap Timer, it may be better to run the Qstarz at 5Hz : http://www.gps-laptimer.de/compatibility/android

I also like the rubber dash mount that comes with the XGPS150 and 160.

All the phone gps that I am aware of are 1Hz, which isn't quite high enough resolution for data acquisition (you can't really tell lap to lap differences). You will definitely want an external gps unit.

I'm partial to racechrono but the full version is $20, Which I bought.

It's really a golden era, inexpensive data acquisition for everyone.

The free version of CMS Lap Timer is excellent :)

I have been using the CMS Pro and it's much more detailed than the Track Addict. Takes a external GPS. But for me I have had a lot of problems using it. Probably just me,
