Unable to remove loose Homelink mirror
Hello,
I just picked up a 2013 BRZ Limited and it has the Homelink rear view mirror. It is very loose and I wanted to take it off the windshield to troubleshoot the issue. I took out the one screw in the outside trim piece directly attached to the mirror but I cannot figure out how to pull it off. It twists maybe 1/4 left or right but that is it. It seems to come in contact with a screw underneath that I cannot reach because this outside trim covers half the screw head. I put a good amount of force on it, but I didnt want to break the windshield. It seems like something near the top is holding it, but I can see how to release it. I added a link to a few pictures of the mount, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! http://imgur.com/a/1Uzl7 |
I finally figured this out today. This mount does not twist off, you must pull/slide it directly up toward the headliner. Mine was loose but pulling toward the headliner took a significant amount of force. If anyone else has this issue I found it easiest to hold the based of the mount that attached to the glass. Grab the mirror base (small part that swivels) and pull directly up toward the headliner very hard. Mine popped off and all of the screws that were underneath went flying around. Not sure if this is normal or not, but hopefully it helps if anyone else runs into this issue.

Mine feels loose when I adjust it, but it doesn't vibrate or shake, so I just go with it. I had the standard mirror and installed the Subaru auto dimming mirror.
