AVIC-8201NEX back camera and mic compatibility
I am willing to get this AVIC-8201NEX but I would like to know before if it's compatible with the back camera and the factory mic. Also I want to know which bracket and harness I should buy to install this in my Toyota 86.
Any help? |
Harness - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120701...s.html?tp=2977
Double Din bracket - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120958...t.html?tp=3121 I used the supplied mic, and a new backup camera. You might need something like this - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_794HRR...r.html?tp=3486 But someone on here would know better, you can also call Crutchfield and ask them. |
Use this thread for reference.
Cliff notes: You need to buy the harness post in the reply above this one AND one with a 28 pin connector to get the stock backup camera and AUX port to work. The 28 pin harness has had a tiny bit of trouble fitting but it does indeed work (read ALL of that thread I linked you to thoroughly). I actually have a spare 28 pin harness if you need it. PM if you want it. |

I don't know if I need all of them or what I need specifically for my car and I am very bad guessing so if you (any) can help me to determine what do I need exactly I'll be very glad and I'll appreciate the help. In the other side I think the link you pass me is for installation on my own side, I am right? Thanks in advance |

If you go to the Crutchfield link you provided for the head unit you want and input you car, off to the right there is a link that it will tell you what else is needed "see the installation gear you need" (the other links you provided). There is two options, the first to pretty much retain all functionality of the stock head unit with the new features of the aftermarket one. The second option is to just get the aftermarket unit up and running without any options, i.e. steering wheel controls and backup cam. As far as your question of backup cam and mic, to make installation easy and straight forward you will have to get the iDatalink system. This system will also let you retain the use of your steering wheel controls. You can also retain those systems without the use of the iDatalink but it takes knowing what wire is what then splicing, integrating, and adding new wiring between the cars harness and the aftermarket head unit. Its not impossible, just will take some time and a lot of research most of which is on this forum. And yes you can use the stock backup cam and mic. As far as your list, the Metra items are required for basic functionality. The rest will integrate pretty much everything that stock unit has with the new features of the new unit. Metra AX-TOYUSB USB Port Cable Metra 95-8202 Dash Kit Metra 40-LX11 Antenna Adapter iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR Interface Module iDatalink HRN-RR-TO1 Factory Integration Adapter SiriusXM SXV300V1 Tuner |

I think Bluetooh will not be available in any option, I am right? Thanks in advance |

Read through both of these as it has most of the wiring instructions and how to program the Idatalink. Its quite hectic on the PDF but just keep it simple. iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR Interface Module Instructions iDatalink HRN-RR-TO1 Factory Integration Adapter Instructions |

No problem. If you currently have or want SiruisXM then you "can" get it. It is an optional part. If you don't want to use SiruisXM and/or have no plans to get it in the future don't get the module. It is something that can be bought in the future if you change your mind. It is not needed for functionality. Edit: I was mistaken about the mic. There is no plug and play solution for the stock mic. To use the OEM mic, take the mic that came with the aftermarket head unit and cut off the mic part. Then run the wire up to the OEM mic and cut the wires for the OEM mic. Then connect up the wires, it is only two wires so not difficult. The second is just to use the aftermarket mic. You can run the aftermarket mic up to where the OEM mic is and put the aftermarket mic in place of the OEM one. No cutting or splicing just remove and replace. |

Android auto works. backup camera works. Stock USB port works. The only stock part that was not used was the microphone. I did the complete installation with everything I already linked for you. |
