Start up

Hello,

Recently made some exhaust mods and the cold start in the morning is brutal. I actually feel bad for my neighbors. I did notice that if I quickly put my car into neutral or reverse or drive right after I start up that the engine drops its idle from 1.6k to 1k right away and the loud rasps is gone. If I do this everytime I start my car and sit on neutral for a few minutes for the car to warm up, do you guys think its safe??

Yeah it'll be fine. Your cats just wont heat up as fast. Won't affect how your car runs.

No cats on my car right now :)

but I am considering a new front pipe.

CNT Resonated front pipe $250
or
Berk Catted front pipe $350

Which one do you guys think will eliminate the sound more and produce less rasps?

It's not just rpms, that make cold starts loud. Also ignition/valve timings so that more unburnt fuel is thrown in exhaust, again, for mentioned quicker catalisator heating to working temps.
One can tune out or reduce cold-starts in ECU tune. By oneself, if having something like OFT or tactrix cable, or asking tuning shop's tuner, if via ECUTEK.

I feel your pain. I go into work early AM hours. On cold start I'll set off the alarm of the car next to me. I gotta put it in reverse right away to prevent it from happening.
