Yes, I have been reading others.

I have Apex ARC8 17x9's on the way and will need to get them wrapped in time for Boxerfest. I had been looking at the pilot super sports but now everyone's talking about re71r's. I'm still on stock tires so I don't have much to compare to. I had put a set of conti DWS all seasons on my last car and was not impressed by performance or durability.

I want summer tires that are as sticky as possible with me still being able to get two good years out of them daily driving. Apex recommends 245/40/17 for stock suspension (which I have), but if someone can confirm a good tire fit for 255's, I would go for them. I will be putting winter tires on the stock rims for 2-4 months of the year.

The re71rs are an autocross and time attack tire primarily so if you aren't doing those, I'd use something else. They aren't very comfortable and they wear quickly.

The Pilot Super Sports are nice, sticky, have good road manners and will last you 2 years of daily driving assuming you aren't putting an insane number of miles on the car each year. I recommend 245/40r17 tires, stock spring perches stick out too far for anything else to not start rubbing.

Much appreciated. I'm autocrossing at Boxerfest, but doubt I'll have the time to do other events throughout the year, so durability is important.

To add to what Lynxis said, the current extreme performance tires also need some heat to be grippy. Daily driving on the street won't get them up to optimum temperature, so a tamer tire will actually have more grip in daily use.

Well, with the way I drive I bet they would be warm enough most of the time. However, I think I'm sold on the pilot super sports now though because there are those rare occasions I drive the little ones around and want the grip on demand. Thanks, I appreciate all the advice.

It takes at least a full lap at warm up speeds (almost flat out) to get most extreme summer tires up to temperature... I doubt you're getting and keeping tires that warm on the street. Lapping at like 50% isn't enough to get full heat/grip.

I just put these on my 2014 BRZ, stock size.
Tires are awesome so far, excellent both into and out of corners, Conti supposedly stiffened up the sidewall a bit from the old DW's. I haven't driven them yet in the rain, but they should be outstanding there as well, given that's what the DW's were known for anyway.

I considered Michelin PSS and Bridgestone Pole Position, but I decided to take a chance on these new Conti's -- much less expensive than PSS, much lighter and quieter (and supposedly better tread life) than PP.

Especially if you're coming from OEMs, it's like night and day, you're literally driving a new car.

The Sports are what I plan to put on my car as a new daily/potential rainy day autox tire. Glad to hear you're liking them

I run Hankook V12 Evo 2's, not a new tire but they perform well with my setup, major mods are E85 and headers. I replace them every 6 months, but my driving might be a little aggressive, my fronts wear almost as fast as the rears. And it's only $300 for 4 shipped.

HMMMM I was planning to go with the PSS but this sounds intriguing.
