2017 brz PP brake squeal!

Little disappointed. Less than 2 months old, 2,105 miles and the front driver side is squealing when slowing in the 25mph range. Additionally, there's been RUST coming out of the lug holes. I removed the wheel and there was rust on the inside of the hub. Wtf.

Have an appointment Wednesday at the Dealership. Hope they can resolve it.

Sounds pretty normal... performance brake pads can squeal a bit and rotors do get a light layer of rust. If you don't want these things, you can replace the pads with some designed for quietness and get expensive two piece rotors with aluminum hats. You'll still get some rust on the unscrubbed part of the rotors though.

Ok cool! This is my first somewhat sports car and I really don't know what to expect. Thanks for the peace of mind. Dealer is probably going to laugh at me.

Mine do the same, pretty much from day one. And they are loud! The price we pay with the upgraded bits.

You need to bed them in properly to get them to shut up.

Summerwolf 04-19-2017 06:55 PM

Probably just need to be used. Properly.

I have over 3k on my PP and have not experienced any squeal from the brakes.

How to bed brakes.

This. Do this where you will not have to stop for 10 minutes or so to cool everything down.

If you do come to a light, slow down short with some space in front of you and creep slowly until it's go time. I never really come to a complete stop unless absolutely necessary. This keeps from making a hot spot on the rotor which brings the carbon to the surface. Cementite is another word to google.

Also refer to page 158 of the manual.
