Ecutek License Help
 

Hey guys,

Please help me out with these questions, I keep hearing different information and Im not sure what is correct. I have a friend that is actively using his ecutek cable and license. He said that he would be willing to flash my car.
1) Do I need a new license to flash to my car? I assume so because that makes sense.
2) Can he still flash his own car with his license afterward with his own cable/dongle?
3) Can I apply the license to my own dongle if I get one in the future?

I plan on buying the license if necessary but is it also necessary to buy my own cable? Like can he still use his own cable and license after without issue?
Tuning shop keeps telling me different stuff.

Yes you can use another persons ecutek proecu cacle to flash you car.

However you will need to buy an ecu licience for the new car and most likely a tune unless you self tuning.

The cable kit will flash any car as long as it has an ecu licience in ecu, it wont effect the ability of him to flash the original car

The ecu licience you buy gets transfred to oyur ecu the first time you flash new ecu, its a one off cost for each ecu, then you flash as many times ax you like. With any cable kit you like.

The tunes are keyed to the cable kit dongle id so if you use your mates dongle tune can only be flashed with his dongle. If you buy your own kit later you wont be able to flash the tune keyed to your mates dongle, you would need the get the tuner to re key the tune to your dongle id

People confuse tune dongle keying and ecu licience they are different
