CWP...should i respray?

Hi all. Wanted to get some opinions on my situation.

Purchased a new 2017 BRZ in crystal white pearl about a month ago. Within a couple weeks it got some rock/paint chips on the front bumper. Looking back on it all, I should've gotten a clearbra or PPF done immediately... hindsight is 20/20.

Anyway, I'm considering getting the front bumper repainted and then the clearbra installed. There are about 4 small chips in the paint (about 2mm each...pretty small. I used the suby touch up paint pen but the results were poor)... and i'm pretty anal and if I were to do the clearbra, id rather the bumper be 100% perfect... however I also know the difficulties in getting a pearl white paintjob done correctly.

What would you guys do in this situation? Repaint + clearbra? or just clearbra and forget about the small chips.

The clear bra that Scion/Toyota installs from dealership only covers the lower hood, and my bumper is riddled with stone chips. Just make sure the clear bra you would go for actually protects the areas or you will be back to where you started.

I wouldn't repaint, but i daily my car and i expect to have chips and scratches over time. If it's for show or a weekend car, go for a repaint, but if not, i wouldn't worry too much, over time it'll just get worn again from regular abuse.

Save your money on a paint job and ceramic coat your car with Opti Coat Pro or Cquartz Finest then do the clear bra. That's $$$$ well spent. To repaint your bumper it's the blending of the color that will be the key factor. The color you have is not easy to match. Just my 2 cents! ;)

I'm about to get my front bumper resprayed because of rock chips and other rash from nearly 70k of DD use. Idiot me also jumped the front bumper on a curb half a year ago, which is the primary reason for wanting to redo the bumper.

My painter is planning on keeping majority of the existing paint around where the bumper meets the bonnet, fenders, and just mending the damaged sections. My hope is that it matches better than spraying and blending a brand new bumper.

I wouldn't worry about 4 tiny rock chips though -- it's bound to happen to other parts of the car. I have chips on the bonnet and both mirror covers.

Oh, my ....... little chips happen.......:(

Can you see them while your driving .. ?? Would other people notice them by just walking past your car .. ?? Is the body going to rust out underneath the chips ... ??

See where I'm going with this ..... ??

Why don't you just Doctor Colorchip?

evomike 04-17-2017 11:35 AM

the problem with repainting it to clear bra is that you shouldn't apply the clear bra over fresh paint, so what will happen is you'll pay to have it painted it'll chip again possibly in that time and you'll be pissed. best bet is to touch them up as minutely as possible and then installing the clear bra.

Yes but same colour.. I always thought that white and silver are generally good colours that can tolerate some minor abuse as stone chips and scratches are more difficult to see.
