Girlfriend got a seibon cf vented hood install the other day, Glad she getting into car stuff; makes her a keeper right? lol

What are good things to do from water getting on the alternator/sensitive parts or should i not worry about it on this platform?

put it back to stock, then you have nothing to worry about.

aftermarket hoods on this platform don't do anything other than "look good"...

Vented hoods absolutely help cool the engine bay -- mainly useful for FI application.

... but if you have to prevent water from going in, then what's the point of the vented hood to begin with?

I'm really just addressing the primary concern brought up by OP regarding his concern on water getting into the engine bay. If you cool down the engine bay but then can't drive the car in the rain, you either 1) live in the desert, or 2) you have to work around the possibility of water messing up things in the engine bay.

but yes, it does cool down the engine bay, either by airflow or by water.

You'll be fine with a bit of water. The real problem is when your doing 75 on the freeway and you see your new hood lift up/bend/or just fly off.

People are way too scared about a little rain. If it's on a downpour while parked, then you'll might have something to think about.

Your girlfriend will swap back to stock if the comments don't like it? Seems like a waste of an $800-900 hood just to go back to stock for the sake of pleasing random viewers on the internet.

If she bought it purely for looks and because she likes it, then that is all that matters.

Which would not apply in this case since she isn't boosted or tracking it. They don't make much sense if all the car is used for is for cruising around.

The one you posted above looks to be better built with ducting as the primary goal... you wouldn't be able to achieve the same outcome with a Seibon hood as they essentially take a stock hood and make a fiberglass version of it.

The reason why she got is because she always wanted a carbon fiber hood. I've always been a wheels and suspension type of guy as first mods.
