Maybe your son will relate more when my son (10yr old) starts showing up in the videos. He is a bit more camera shy than my daughter who thinks I should be doing videos with her everyday :lol: Got them both in karts already, hopefully get the video up soon of their junior autocross orientation and first time driving! |
Hey I just saw your video randomly browsing on YouTube, glad to see your on the forums as well. I was wondering if you got a lot of drone with this system? I currently have a berk muffler delete and the drone on that became unbearable.

I am seriously loving this Tanabe Concept G single exit catback paired up with my Motiv FP. It's super loud and aggressive with plenty of pops/gurgles/backfires.
It seems to give a nice pop between 1st and 2nd gear around 60% of the time, and from 2nd to 3rd around 10-20% of the time. There also seems to be a few areas of the RPM range that will reliably produce a pop if you shift at them, but it's kinda hard to reliably hit them. Rev matched downshifts sound loud and crazy in the car, I can only imagine how they sound from behind! Also, if you're coasting and letting the revs fall from 4k-2500k while just barley/lightly "feathering" the throttle, you get treated to a repeating symphony of machine gun like muffled pops and gurgles as the revs fall. It's really easy to do and it sounds awesome, especially if the exhaust is really hot. I need to figure out a way to record this from the outside somehow. It's basically a straight pipe/muffler delete disguised as a Japanese N1 looking canister. There's no perforations inside the "muffler" section's piping, just a smaller diameter pipe that the exhaust gets forced through. So I guess the smaller piping in the rear section could be considered a type of muffler, but really there seems to be very little to no muffling going on. I also love the look of the angled exit and the fact that it's a single exit. I'm gladly leaving the other cutout wide open, I don't care at all that it doesn't look symmetric or whatever. Completely satisfied with the look and sound of this race exhaust! |
Good stuff! I really miss having mine :( If it passed sound at race events I would still use it...I'm still searching for a better option than my current Blitz Nur-Spec VSR system. I like it, but it is really heavy :(

Reminds me of my mr2 turbo with the nur spec single exit exhaust. It never looked right regardless of how nice it is.

@justinco
so do you think this is a good exhaust for SSC? (given the 18 lb minimum weight rule and muffler requirement) |

Did you have the Tanabe on your car for a while (or is it still on the car)? Long term review holds up? |

For the cost/weight, I think this would be one of my top choices if I was I in SSC or the street class. |
