Installing BRZ Trunk Interior Liner into FR-S

I was a little disappointed that it is basically a PVC backing with a thin layer of felt on it because I had wanted to have it embroidered with a logo and my 1st86 serial number. For now though, I've installed as is.

The liner is a perfect match for the rest of the trunk liner.

Here's what came in the box. The Liner, 7 push connectors, two air fresheners (smell like apple I think) and a BRZ accessory catalog.

And here are close-ups of the parts labels and the back of the liner...

Not much to installing it. It's precut and prepunched so it really just slides in place, and you slip the connectors in. It took longer to get the connectors out of the wrap then it did to install.

Here's before and after.

why is this not in stock!!!! anyone know of somewhere that does have it in stock?

One update, since someone asked on the other thread. I didn't weigh it before installing it, but I placed everything shown in the photo above NOT installed in the car back in the shipping box. All the wrapping, air fresheners, brochure, etc weighed 2lb 15oz (it came in a big box!). The shipping weight from UPS was 3lbs. I'm guessing that means it weighs less than one lb installed since UPS usually rounds up weight.

Nice mod -- looks good! Thanks for posting this.

Can you please tell us (or show us with a pic): if you have the rear seat folded down and you look back into the opening, how much does the painted perimeter of the trunk lid still show around the liner?

I've been wanting to do this mod myself, but was considering going with a homemade liner, given that the BRZ part was sold out, and thinking that I could actually accomplish better coverage myself than with the factory piece.

Thanks very much, and cheers!

Dave

Photo below. This is a little lower than you would see looking in the rear view mirror, so really you only see the bottom portion below the yellow line I've added, which is still significant. Also, obviously, this would be the same in the BRZ.

Honestly though, looking at it, there are no good attach points in that section so you'd have to use velcro or drill holes. I don't normally drive with the seat down so it doesn't bother me. My real desire was to cover the wires and the holes, which this does.

Thanks, Dadhawk for the thoughtful reply. That sure looks better than this:

Any noticeable difference in interior sound with the new junk in yo trunk?

Not really, but again, I rarely ride with the back seat down and given this is about the same thickness as the blade portion of your FR-S key, I wouldn't expect it to do much.
