Any DIY fix for leaking window seal?
 
So I noticed when it is very cold and starts to rain, the rubber weather strip shrinks and let's in some water into the inside of the car.

I just called Toyota and they quoted me approximately $300 for labor + parts to replace the weather strip on both sides of the car.

I am wondering if there is a cheaper DIY fix for this problem.

If I remember correctly, the outer gasket has a void tword the outside, you could try pulling that back and stuffing some weather stripping foam or something at that trim peace. I can't remember which, but I was told that a 4 or 8 gauge lenght of wire will fit in it, which was used to keep the seal from rolling over and bunching when rolling up the window. (an issue for some earler cars)

Just went to Home Depot and bought me some backer rod's thanks to your suggestion. Just killed two birds with one stone - fixed the seal from rolling up and fixed the leak near the A-pillar. We'll see how it holds up - especially when it gets cold and starts to rain again.

It stopped the leak? If so, I hope it keeps working for you. I found a post similar to the one I mentioned in case anyone else has the same problem

I gave the A-pillar area of my window a good 20 sprays of water and so far its not leaking. Usually only leaks when its really cold though so we will see.

I don't know if this will help but a lot of Honda guys swear on this stuff called Shin-Etsu to restore seals. But our seals would be fairly new so I don't know...

Bought backer rod to fix the seal, great stuff. I used that in combination with rubber cement and it worked like a charm. No leaks or whistling (decided to do something about after a no touch car wash). Not bad for a 5 dollar fix, great tip!
