DSport Ultimate Tuning Guide

Hi guys,

Just saw a link for this from a local BRZ Facebook group.

http://store.dsportmag.com/FR-S-BRZ-...der_p_314.html

Does anyone know anything about DSport? Think this guide will be worthwhile?

Let me know your thoughts, cheers!

No, absolutely not. You have an entire forum built with years of knowledge for these cars at your fingertips.

Why would you ever buy that? Waste for money. Use the search bar and google.

Dsports did all different exhaust review, dyno and dB which was very informative few years back. Not sure it's worth $20... you might find 99.9% of those info prob in this forum.

but that's just my 2 yen

I just don't trust them. They seem to be more focused on flash and women then they are on actual cars and tech.

I have never seen them give a bad review. All the parts they test ALWAYS make power, because advertisements=$$$. And free parts are nice too.

The pre-order is $20, but is that the final price? I don't see how it could hurt to get it, because there certainly is a LOT of misinformation online. They have a lot of good stuff on their site and they do test on the real dyno and not the butt dyno. But I'd start with the tuning basics guide FT86 has right here.

I definitely go through the forums a lot for my information, but thought this magazine might be worthwhile if it was condensing a lot of good information (with pictures and graphs) into a neat little package.

@jenzan It's only 20bucks...
I'd rather buy a hyper rev... even if it is in Japanese.

It wouldn't be a bad addition to a coffee table and would condense a lot of info down to one package, but $20 is kinda steep.

Also to be fair to DSPORT, they have stopped using models on their covers and having a feature article on them. They only use models for their calendar now.

Everyone seems so critical over a $20 book. I think it may be worth it. Most parts you add will make power if it is a name brand so it's hard to write a bad review on an intake if they all make power. It comes down to power vs $$$ I'm not sure if it was Dsport or Super Street but one of them did a shootout on something like over 10 intakes for the twins which I thought was a good article. For $20 to have all that info right up front without having to search I think is worth it. It seems like the first book of its kind so it's not like you can say well they made a book on the STI that was garbage.

They do "ultimate tuning guides" I think yearly. I think they had a Honda one last year, or maybe it was just a bigger special edition magazine and this is something different. Not 100% sure.

Dsport overall is probably one of the more factual magazines (seemingly) as they do a ton of testing. They do show negatives and small gains regularly and explain what happened or why their testing showed that. Overall they seem to be a decent magazine for the research and articles. I'm on the fence with this thing as an end all be all source (because it isn't) but I'll buy it just to have it. I really liked their concise intake and exhaust comparisons and their edelbrock supercharger articles.

Having everything conveniently condensed down into one guide definitely is worth $20 bucks.
