Brief "chirp" sound on acceleration
Hi all,
I've done a bunch of searching, but haven't been able to find much regarding a slight "chirp" sound that comes from the front of the car when I quickly stab the throttle when rev matching or quickly accelerating after shifting. My car is a 2014. Engine mods are OFH and OFT Stage 2 tune. 18.5k miles I can tell you that the noise isn't coming from the clutch, it's not the rear tires chirping, and climate control is off when I've tested it so it's not the AC clutch. It's also not the normal chirping from the fuel pump. The car is still under warranty, but with all of the quirks this chassis has I'd like to know if this is normal or if this is something that I should make a warranty claim on. I don't have a sound clip now, but I could try to record one tonight. Thanks. |
My flywheel used to chirp in a Mini. It was glazed all to shit

I recently installed a UEL header and OFT stage 2 tune also and noticed the same chirp. It's only at WOT that I hear it though after the car upshifts(Auto).
Figured it was just a new noise to get used to from the header/tune. Pretty sure it's normal: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70903 |
Definitely not a woosh. I'd describe it more like a belt is momentarily slipping for a fraction of a second.

IMHO you're over-analyzing the noise. It's nothing. Cars make noise

Seems this person had a similar issue, but no follow up. |

Looks like the noise is tip in knock. I don't remember if this was there before the tune or not, but it seems to be what it is |
