New manual driver - SPEED BUMPS!
These things are a nightmare for me right now lol. The car doesn't feel right to me in first gear or second gear going slowly over them. Does anyone have any advice on this?
|
I tend to coast over them and not accelerate, depending on the size I might blip the throttle to get the rear wheels over. Also this car will feel especially violent due to the nature of the stiff chassis and suspension.

Yes...I typically use first to go over speed bumps.
You'll get used to it. I had a hard time with reverse when I started driving a manual. I was just letting the clutch out with no gas as reverse felt incredibly touchy. Give it a few weeks though and it'll be second nature. |
So you are downshifting to first while moving, albeit slowly, to go over them?

Just remember not so shift into first until you are going very slow (2-3mph) any more is not good to do.

I just stick it in 2nd and play with the clutch and gas. Am I doing it wrong?

With some practice using double-clutching you can downshift into 1st at speed. But 2nd is fine too. Just slow down, coast over the bump and then ease back into the power. |
Ok, I will attempt them again later lol. Thanks
