ORC SE Twin Plate Clutch for FRS/BRZ
Just received this in today for a project car.
Entire assembly weighs 26.65lbs without the throwout bearing. ORC rated capacity for this is around 470 ft/lb of torque. http://i.imgur.com/3CQcaJZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/weSfKru.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JE4LOIA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KbKR4v9.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9kvDhnn.jpg |

Alex, that's a handsome unit - please keep us posted as to how it works for your project. I'm particularly interested in performance, pedal weight, chatter, and cost.

That looks fantastic!
Just as a matter of interest do you have mass for the oem unit? |

Probably the coolest thing about having a twin plate clutch is when you start the car, it makes a metal "hollow" ringing sound as the starter disengages.

I should note ORC has two versions of this clutch, one with "normal" weight flywheel and one that is lightweight flywheel. I don't know if the normal one is actually the same weight as the factory flywheel, but this entire assembly weighs less than 27lbs. Maybe 28 if I were to count the throwout bearing. |

I have an Orc 400 Series clutch/flywheel in my boosted 86. It's been amazing. Pedal feel is infinitely better than stock -- it is as easy as or easier to use (due to better feel) than the OEM clutch on the street and in normal traffic situations. Tons of power holding for track use.

Drove an R32 with a ORC twin plate in it. That thing could hold the power no problem, launches were ridiculous. Although it had a very small engagement point, stalled it so many times, it wasn't my car so. At a stop light it would make that rattling noise, so awesome.
