I'm curious why is the TRD Cold air intake box exclusive to us market? Why wouldn't Japan trd or European markets does not have it? Any specific reason?

Maybe the rest of the world figured out the car doesn't benefit from it ......:iono:

Chances are, the TRD "cold air intake" in the US is made by someone else for TRD in the US, most likely for purposes of racing in some race series (Homologation for Pirelli World Challenge, for example). Interesting side note: "The Disney Store" in Japan is a different company than the company actually managing Tokyo Disneyland (owned and operated by Oriental Land Company). Many consumers are lead to believe that a single brand name is operated by the same corporation, when in reality you need to look at the brand in whatever territory you want to use the product or service in. |
^This
TRD USA parts doesn't sell outside of US. Just like we can't get TRD JP parts here. |

Look at the 17s. They had many changes to them one of which is a more free flowing filter and air box that is very close to the TRD. Even with all those changes put together it only gained 5hp. How much of that is due to the better flow we really don't know but it can't be much. The TRD does make a cool noise though. Unlike may cars these have been well designed for air intake right from the start so you won't get the big improvements you see when putting one on an old sedan or something like that. |

I have the TRD intake. I noticed very slight throttle response improvement, and more after using maf sensor cleaner later on. No numbers, just observations. I do like the way it sounds and looks in the engine bay.

Dynos are not consistent nor accurate enough when talking abut that low a gain. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...+intake&page=7 |

According to this guy it did: "So I finally got the FR-S on the Dyno. This was my procedure. -Unhook neg terminal -Wait 5 minutes or so -Hook neg cable back up, run car for 5-10 minutes. -Do 3 dyno runs. -Unhook neg terminal -Install TRD intake -Hook neg cable back up, run for 5-10 minutes -Do 3 more runs This way I believe to be the best, as it makes it so I am comparing apples to apples. My car has around 3500km on it, and it has the TRD exhaust as well. First 3 runs are as follows: 1. 162.9hp - 133.52tq 2. 166.05hp - 136.51tq 3. 167.95hp - 136.73tq After the TRD intake was installed (within an hour, so similar temp etc) 1. 174.39hp - 143.59tq 2. 175.6hp - 144.2tq 3. 170.02hp - 141.16tq - Something was up on this last run as I felt the car shift a bit on the dyno. I was satisfied with the figures so we just took it off." |
