Would make 2 days stuck on the highway in a blizzard interesting if nothing else.

2 knives.
1 basic first aid kit
1 20000mah battery

I have been thinking of doing a basic car bag with just an extra jacket and some tools, but now this thread has me thinking of adding more stuff...

Yup. Exactly why I wanted to see what was in everyone else's kit. 👍👌

IFAK with tourniquet, quick clot, Israeli bandage, bandag shears and disinfectant.
That's about it aside from my daily on-body gear. Usually a knife, pistol, mag, flashlight, cell.
I live in the city so pretty much no matter what happens I just need to be able to hold on for about five minutes until first responders get there.

Well it seems the California kit mainly consists of cloths and cellphones!
You guys would look sill as hell hauling around my winter gear.

we get spoiled here compared to some other places lol. I see other people not minding temps under 30F with snow and here I am freezing my ass off whenever it gets below 60F with perfect skies.

in the winter, I kept gloves in my car for when I need to do traffic control in the early mornings but now that the weather is getting way warmer (today's high is 90F) I can do without those now. for spring to fall I probably don't even need anything. packing a bag for 3-4 months out of the year kind of doesn't seem worth it for me. maybe just a tool bag

Summer:
Sunscreen
2 wine glasses

Winter:
Sweater
2 wine glasses.

Actually I'm lying. I don't have sunscreen.

Impureclient 03-29-2017 11:37 PM

Clean white t-shirt, napkins, ball point pens.

I feel way unprepared looking at some of these lists.
Except for Sapphireho, I think I have him beat.

spike021 03-30-2017 01:52 AM

Welp. Originally I was considering getting a kit together but now I think I'll definitely need to do it. At the very least some medical supplies and snacks/water bottles.

1000cc I.V. saline bag, 18, 20, 22 gauge needles and I.V. tubing. Great for when you have to get home/go to work after a night of drinking. Just spike the bag, tap a vein, put it in the visor and get fluids whilst driving. Sure as hell beats gatoraid.

Die$eL 03-30-2017 08:45 AM

when we go out my father-in-law carries what he refers to as his "survival kit"

consists of 1 x bottle brandy, 1 x 1L coke and 2 x glasses

Same here! Also, have a chest decompression needle and a few other items in my tacmed bag. This is separate from my SHTF bag which I bring along for my commute to work... Just for holding off others and getting to family and safety.

I've been trying to incorporate toilet paper into my bugout bag in the car but I can't seem to find individually wrapped rolls that would take up less space than the combo packs they sell at the supermarket. Then there's the debate of Charmin vs. Royale vs Cottonelle.

Check a military surplus store. You may find the little packets with 5 or 6 sheets there. May as well use pages from a book for how it feels but it is packaged nicely.

In an emergency I'm sure the user handbook can be put to use.. its not as if anyone reads it, so won't be missed.

Oh I like that container! Much better than the old gym bag I threw everything into.

Wut? I keep the bottom quarter of a roll in the passenger seat pouch. Also keep a roll of paper towels and a beach towel.

No surgical instruments. I plan on bleeding out.

They Crayon is a ram-air cellular kite. Five cells in different colors.
No duck tape. The banana looking things are quadline kite handles.
Really should get some tape in there though. Hold my beer.

I too carry a couple of stunt kites in my truck( along with a full compliment of tools). Many times there will be a long wait between sessions. If all is well and I do not have to fix something it helps to pass the time.

Last Lemming Alive 04-01-2017 12:14 AM

I think that you will find more opportunities to use your kit if you just added the following:

Night vision googles
Gaffer tape

Forgot to add:

Driving gloves

I have the same kit except I replaced the tarp with those oversize trash bags. You should give them a try. So much easier.
Oh, and get a red lens for he flashlight so it doesn't attract so much attention.

Subaru Roadside Emergency Kit
Subaru Severe Weather Companion
5'8" beautiful woman in her 30's - severe weather companion non-subaru
Box of 3 flares - I think I should have more. They do not last that long.
Large heat reflective durable tarp thing with blaze orange back
Several boxes of waterproof matches
Two boxes of emergency candles - if you know how to use them, they are really great. Canadian forest ranger / troopers recommend them for overnight in a car without heat in the cold.

Delivery of BRZ is scheduled (vaguely scheduled or something) for April 15! Woot!

Oh, I forgot:
Two winter hats. Even in warmer weather, sleeping in a car at night without a hat is rough.
Locking blade folding knife
Weird little swiss army style fork/knife/spoon set got as a gift. Kinda neat.

I've mainly got supplies for towing people up out of snowdrifts and ditches in my truck, along with a little shovel, snow brush, and ice scraper. I might be able to take that stuff out for non-winter soon though.

Yal 04-03-2017 10:54 PM

First aid kit (need the clotting sponges) flares, a few sockets and adjustable wrench, bunch of subaru swag for giveaways, tshirt, fleece overshirt, hats (more subie swag). All of this in my Subaru Trunk Organizer
