Cleaning enginebay

Hey guys

I want to clean my engine bay and I want to know how you guys clean and if it's safe to spray it with pressure washer or safe to spray water over it

Because the frs engine bay is more exposed compare to other cars

Plenty of videos online but long story short. Plan to clean when you have not driven or do not plan to drive for a few hours. You will need an APC All Purpose Cleaner for automotive use diluted accordingly. Soft boars hair brush's, and plastic bags and tape to cover vital engine areas you do not want exposed to water. Rinse lightly and agitate after misting with APC, then gently rinse and dry with a leaf blower or let air dry. If you want to dress the motor do it while wet.

I don't. No one sees it except me and the guy who changes the oil ..... and I don't give a rip what he thinks.

I clean off the parts I removed before I put them back on.

I've used engine degreaser in the past, cover up all the vital components like battery, wire harnesses, air filter, etc. Spray on a moderately warm engine and let sit for a few minutes, then scrub the area with a thick soft brush and then wipe down with rags. I try to avoid using a hose unless it's around the firewall and fender area.

Not a pressure washer. No.

Mr.ac 03-29-2017 10:50 PM

Dont be afraid. But don't be stupid. Low pressure water is your friend.
Common logic, don't use a high powered pressure washer directly pointed at electrical parts.
