TRD Springs vs Stock?
Considering the TRD Springs for my FR-S. I am not looking for performance gains, I would just like to get rid of some of the wheel well gap.
Do the TRD Springs make to car ride a lot stiffer then the stock springs? I do a lot of highway driving and do not want to get beat up on the long drives. |
I had the TRD Springs installed before I picked up MY17 and I don't feel like I have been beaten up at all. I've only done a handful of 30+ minute highway drives though.

How much do they lower it by? 1"?
Also, the dealer wants 1K for it, which is way too steep for lowering springs. Do they sell them on ebay or something? I'd just get my mechanic to install them. |
I would have to classify the ride with TRD Springs as harsh. You will feel every road imperfection.
Now the roads in TN are probably a lot better than the roads in NJ, which is like driving through Beirut. |

I want to say that I paid about 600 for parts and install. Harsh isn't a bad description, but I expected a bit of a drop in ride comfort when I lowered it. I definitely wouldn't call it a beating though. |
I have trd springs and anti roll bars. Its not bad at all. I can hardly tell the difference from stock as far as ride harshness. It does feel different. CAn't really describe it as I am no race car driver. I do like the ride better though. Feels more locked in on turns etc.

My wifes 15' is bone stock and my 16' has TRD springs and Koni shocks. My car is not as comfortable as my wife's, but it's still not bad IMO.
I need to get the two cars on the stock wheels and tires to compare again now that they are settled, but I think the drop is just a little over half an inch. I doubt it's a full inch. |
I put TRD springs on my 2017 back in October, after 2000 miles of driving on the stock springs. I wouldn't call the ride harsh at all.
I measured before and after, and they lowered the car approximately 1.25" at all four corners. |
I put on trd springs with stock struts. Front didn't go down much: .5ish. Back went down a good amount 1-1.5. TBH, I put them in before I drove a lot on stock, and this car is stiffer than my last (tC). If anything, car looks a lot better with the gaps reduced. Lowering springs have to be shorter springs. Shorter springs have to be higher rate springs. Lowering will always cause a harder ride. Always.
