Add another, I have this now too. Right along the area where it is most curved, seal folds under when rolling up.

At the dealer right now regarding the wind noise from the driver side window at 40+ mph. I'll keep u posted

I have the same issue on just the drivers side too. I take passangers often too.
Started on drivers side door for me today. Argh.

I am going to try to '303 lubricant' it tonight. Honestly, this is a bunch of crap. |

I've got the same problem on my BRZ. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow and see what the remedy is. Not sure if the window needs to be adjusted or if this is a faulty seal. No problem with the passenger side, though.
303 no help. At dealer see what they say.

YES! I noticed this a few months ago and I spent a good 30 minutes trying to figure out what was going on! I noticed it when I parked one day and put the windows up, closed the door when I got out and it made a "burrrrr" rubbery noise. I looked and sure enough, EXACT issue.
I plan to put this one on the laundry list for my oil change coming up this weekend. I have the tail-light condensation too. I also hate how reverse/second can get in the cold.. blah (fluids?). I just want it to be noticed on my service records that I noticed these issues long before they became larger ones. |
Yea, I have the same issue and I brought it over to the dealership. Their fixing it and it is covered under warranty.
This is what happens to mine: http://youtu.be/QrXPwVnCXys |

just checked mine out. same deal. I had been wondering where all that damn wind noise was coming from. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the seal itself, more with the window. I wonder, could we apply some adhesive or something to the flap of the seal to keep it from being pulled up by the window?
Dealer ordered entire new weatherstripping for the drivers door. Awaiting for it to arrive so they can replace. We'll see what happens.
I just wonder, if it's the same seal, how is this going to fix the issue? have they told you that it's a revised design for the seal? Seems like the window will do this regardless.
They didn't know if it was revised or not. They said they would try the replacement and see what happens, but they agree it's a problem. Just have to wait and see. I'm not happy, but better than nothing.
Went to the dealer yesterday, and they ordered a new seal. Service tech looked at both driver and passenger side windows and thought it was unusual that the passenger side was perfectly fine. He said the window alignment could need slight adjusting, and with the new seal is in they will be able to tell.
If the cars were RHD I bet you this wouldn't be a problem haha
New window seal is in. Going in on Saturday to have the original one replaced. I'll update everyone.
As an FYI - I WOULD NOT adjust the window - the seal is the problem (and it's due to temperature changes and how the rubber moves/designed). I f'd around a bit, and heated up the seal to what it was like before it got cold via a heat gun (low heat) and the problem went away. Then it came back 20 minutes later when it got cold again. |
Dealer replaced window seal on drivers side door. Actually the window seal(s) are two piece. The first piece goes all the way around the drivers side opening. Note: This does not get replaced. The actual window seal that got replaced starts at the left side towards the front of the car and extends towards the back of the car and down, kinda of like a sickle. Honestly, the dealer said it took quite a while to remove the existing adhesive. They said putting it on was easy and no way were they going to adjust the window, that does not solve the issue. All finished, and the result, better than new. No more issues!
Showed mine to the dealership, these guys are helping me out as usual. Same fix as xcelir8br mentioned. Parts on order.
My dealer apparently fixed this by altering the tension of the window somehow, going to keep tabs on it (and see if I get wet when it rains lol).
Reading all these messed up window threads and getting scared about cold weather. :-(
Had new door weatherstripping installed last night at Toyota, fixed it for me so far.
I have this issue also. I did notice the weather does have a factor with the seals sticking. On a warm day, it would not stick. When it's cold, it would stick.
I dont know if its my window seal or what but when i close my passenger window, at the top, it makes this loud noise like the window's hitting something. Any ideas?
Not enough rear adhesive.
So far so good. Issue still solved. Don't fuck with window tension. It definitely is the seal.
Quick suggestion...I have always used Turtle Wax Total Ice interior Care on the seals around my windows long before getting my BRZ. I have found that it allows the glass to move easier and quicker over the rubber seals. Have done it with the BRZ too and have no issues with the windows, even in sub-freezing temps:

would you be able to fix the problem by just adding adhesive to where the seal is getting pulled? or is it too late b/c the seal has already been deformed by getting pulled by the window too much?
Mine has not pulled out yet but I did notice that on the passange side the molding was not firm up into the roof of the car as it should be. I added clear caulk between the moldings to keep the one in contact with the window from pulling out.(there is a gap between the molding in contact with the window and the next piece of molding..I applied the caulk high up between the two so it can't be seen). I also applied the Ice Total Care as I mentioned above. Has been cold and no issue so far.
Mine just started doing this today. The past week it's been rainy and cold. By cold, I mean about 55*F. In San Diego, that's pretty cold.

Ive had this problem since about a week or so after I got mine (June 18th). It hasn't bothered me too much because the window still seals. If for some reason it starts leaking then I'll have a major concern lol.
Just started with my BRZ, ~2500 Miles.
I've noticed mine doing this for the last 6-7 weeks (only driver's side.) I thought it was temperature related but it's been 60 degrees the last two days and it's still happening just like when it was 30 degrees. It doesn't happen every time but more so than not.
I bought a product from The Chemical Guys for vinyl/rubber treating and that failed to do anything. The seals on both doors were extremely dirty which I'm sure wasn't helping anything. After cleaning them and applying two coats, it still happened. Annoys the shit out of me, since I received the email from Subaru about the reflash, I might try to kill two birds with one stone. |

Well just noticed this on mine. Something I did notice is when I close the driver door, the window sits under the seal then goes up. Unlike passenger side window sits halfway up the seal then completely closes. I think it has to do with how far down the driver window opens when opening the door. I'll have it checked at my first oil change.
