I wonder if you can initiate the lemon law when multiple trips and no fix has been found. Anyone considered it or done it?

I feel ya. I'm in the process as we speak. This particular issue with the door seal would not qualify on it's own, at least in WA state. Most states require 30+ days out of service or 3 attempts to fix a "substantial" safety or mechanical defect.

If you are having other issues, you might be able to swing this one in and make a good case, but not on it's own.

Yeah I figured, I looked up lemon law in my state and the keyword was "substantial" so it probably wouldnt work. No other car issues so far.

I have the same issue as the OP, the dealership has ordered the seal and is going to replace it asap.

Bwaahahaha! Sorry...I'm not laughing at you. I'd be pissed too. That's BS.

This is the only face you can give someone who tells you some shit like that when you tell them your window seal is fucked.

on it as a temporary fix?

This just happened to me yesterday. When I got back I rubbed Toyota/Subaru all purpose lube on it and generally just worked the seal until its shaped returned to somewhat normal, and kept applying it. I also cleaned the rubber residue off the window to help it slide over the seal instead of folding it up. Another thing, when I took the seal out, I noticed some minor rust happening and cleaned it right away, as well as there seems to be a yellow clip behind the screw that hold the part of trim where it starts the bend down the A-pillar-I'm wondering if removing this yellow plastic piece will help make a difference as the rest of the screws do not have it and you can see an imprint in the back of seal at that location which also happens to be where the seal gets caught and folds up? Hope this helps and we can solve this. Also I think there is an adjustment possibility in the door for the window track to compensate.

Damn add me to the list. not sure how long its been happening but noticed it this evening. In the middle of a road trip and this starts happening. lol

When Toyota fixed my seals they replaced both door seals and weather strips. Also they recalibrated how the windows sit in the door so the windows wouldn't pull on the door seal as it rolled up.

Its a mix of the original factory shipped door seals being dried out piles of trash, the clips in the door not holding the seal in place and the window itself not being properly seated in the door.

I notice that the new seals are much thicker and seem less stiff and brittle than the last seals did.

Both doors are fixed now and I haven't had a problem with it since the work was completed about 2 months ago.

Here's what mine looks like. I emailed Corporate as I won't have a chance to get my car to the dealer probably before the warranty expires. I wanted to document it and give them a chance to start earning the reputation they seem to think they have with dependable vehicles.
