Budget 2JZ power steering options

Hey guys, Chris from B is for Build here.

Im in the beginning stages of 2JZGTE VVTI swapping my BRZ, after a few hours of searching around on here it sounds like power steering is a sticking point for these swaps.

Has anyone figured out a solution to communicate with the BRZ canbus correctly to tell it engine speed ( or is it vehicle speed? ) so the electronic power steering works? I saw some magician did it on his LSv8 swap but he didnt go into detail at all.

Is keeping the EPS an option, any other ideas? Im not going to run a stand alone ecu of any sort, and not buying anything super expensive, trying to keep this on a budget.

If that doesnt work, has anyone tried the nissan S13, or S14 power steering rack? I could power that off the 2J power steering pump as a last resort.

Thanks in advance!

I love the power steering system on these cars.
Never having to need another power steering pump again makes me smile.
Just turn it on using one of the CANBUS solutions, there is a new thread for it.
I was happy to see my budget Arduino solution made the list.

I saw the canbus thread but is there a section of that dedicated to the power steering stuff?

Oh sorry its late and i just realized you are the wizzard!!! Would you be so kind to do a write up of how you built the Arduino solution? Id love to build one for myself.

Biggest thing about keeping power steering is keeping all of the modules in the vehicle.

I had a customer in a similar situation as yourself who removed the steering angle sensor and wasn't able to have fully functioning power steering.

Shoot me a message and I'll give you the CAN ID's and some pointers for an Arduino solution. My company makes nicer automotive grade modules for things like these, but since you have DIY channel I'll help out :)

Good to see you posting on here Chris, I was wondering what you were planning to do for that. Interested in seeing this unfold. Good luck.
