Although I wonder if the suction cups created enough heat from friction to allow the adhesive to move, or the film to wrinkle slightly - or even the paint itself (this should be highly unlikely). If you wanted to risk it I spose you could try a hair dryer on the spot, probably safer than a heat gun. I definitely wouldn't get it too hot though...

Heat gun didn't work. I contacted the mfg and they (suntek rep) said that their paint protection film should not be polished unlike the 3M. While it does have self-healing, it is only to a certain extent. Unfortunately mine is to that extent of no going back. I guess sometime down the line I will just have to get it re-done.

Sigh*. Sad times.
