Shark Fin Options for 14 BRZ

Hey i'm not sure if this has been addressed yet but i'm looking for a shark fin for my BRZ. i'm having a hard time justifying $100+ for a piece of painted plastic so i went to ebay. they have $10-$20 ones but it doesn't seem that they are big enough. i have a 2014 that has a huge antenna base. i believe only the version 2 beat sonic will fit.

anyone found any cheap alternatives? or anyone know how to remove that base so i can just 3m a smaller shark fin on? (not too worried about radio since i use my ipod anyway)

Just don't ask, how much that $125 @US oem sharkfin will cost if imported to EU :P
Meanwhile there are several aftermarket sharkfin options. Just visit few most popular online shops of parts for our cars and choose one to your liking and budget. Of course they won't be ebay-ish $10-$20, but at least with better fitment/finish/quality.

I put the OEM one on my 2013. Surprisingly it improved reception. The OEM one is a full replacement and not just a plastic shell.

FT 86 Speedfactory sells 2 models one is like 115 or something and the other is about 54 or so. I inquired and their response was that the cheaper one works just fine and the more expensive one is better quality but said they're both good. Hope this helps.

so after doing some digging and stopping by a few shops, i found that the 14 brz (with navi) has a much larger antenna base than any other brz/frs. so the only thing that will fit over it is the v2 beat sonic shark fin. anything else is too small. removing the entire base is out of the question unless you go oem and get one thats navi compatible, but thats more expensive than the beat sonic route. hope this helps anyone that runs into the same problem as me

I bought my OEM 2015 FR-S antenna from LKQ for significantly less than $100. Granted I'm an LKQ employee but I still think they'd charge $50-$75 for the part. I recommend calling your local LKQ to see if they can source one for you.

Forewarning- I retained all OEM function in my navigation head unit except Sirius/XM but I couldn't care less about that as I listen to Pandora, Spotify, or AM/FM exclusively. Plus I'm eventually going to get a Joying HU so I won't be worrying about XM not working.

I got lucky and found a BeatSonic V2 on here, matching color and all. Keep looking and one will pop up again eventually.

The cheapest solution, and you are not worried about the radio...

I painted the stock antenna base with a screw in the hole. I taped it off and sprayed it with adhesion promoter, color, and clear. (I had already bought paint for my side skirts I painted.)
