Ford Transit EcoBoost
I am not a Ford guy by any stretch. Mustangs, I'm sure are great cars, but my curiosity has been kept in check by me not wanting to be considered a "Mustang guy"
My family has never owned Fords. I did buy the very first 3 door Focus I saw, the first one our local dealership had. It was super Euro, seeming even more so than a Golf at the time (2000) it looked like something straight from WRC. Seems silly now, but that was 17 years ago. I kept it about 2 years and 40K miles. No issues, but not for me. Until Yesterday it was my only Ford vehicle. Currently I have a Chevy, Jeep, Toyota, Mazda (sorta Ford like) and a BMW...and a non running 50 year old Chrysler in the back yard. My company wanted me to get a van to use for events. After crunching the numbers I came up with a Ford Transit. I rented a one-way Hertz and drove the 300 miles to the dealership that had a 16 ($6K rebate) in the spec I wanted. They wanted me to get an Ecoboost, same MPG, but a lot more power than the NA version. 310HP and 400ft.lbs or torque. It is huge and cumbersome. The 300 super windy miles on the highway last night at 75MPH was a chore. 86 drivers should not pick on one of these, holy crap it is fast. Like most small displacement (2.0 or smaller) NA cars it is the lack of torque that kills them. From a dead stop or roll-on I think the van would get it. Perhaps the 86 would have top speed because of aerodynamics. Now checking to see if I can get Michelin Pilot Super Sports in E rated Van sizes, LOL. |
What was the point of this post? To be like "Elle oh fricken Elle, this stupid cargo van can't handle like my purpose built sports car"? I personally thought it would have destroyed the twins in every respect, but I guess I missed he mark quite a bit.

I did it to piss off the Canadians, build a wall!
Cole, not a Troll....and yet you troll. Off- topic, OTHER automobile discussions. |
Everyone already knows the 86 is slower than a van.

Well, you guys did shoot down Manfred von Richthofen and he was our enemy....but in hindsight he seems like a swell, but deadly gentlemen. I'll delete the thread if it will really make you feel better. Or you could simply not look at it.....or perhaps even better block me so I will not offend you so much. We have people on here discussing colored neon interior accents. I post this in off topic....which it is, and you come here and whine. :sigh: Go shovel some snow. |
Don't let them wind you up.
Some pictures of your stanced van with stretched tires would be nice. |

Controversial but it has pretty much been determined that the Australian ground forces shot him down. Canadian piolet just chased him to where they could. Thread is in the right place and well within the realm of discussion so I have no idea what the fuss is about. With a 7.5 - 0 to 60 and 15.9 - 1/4 mile the van may take a twin on the jump but after about 5 car lengths would be left behind. Unless the Twin is an AT then they would be neck and neck. |
Ford Transit, the premier getaway vehicle of choice for bank robbers.

I wish they'd put a real motor in the Transit Connect wagon. I want one for my business but they're such slugs...
