Advice on 5mm spacer or 3mm
I had some rubbing issue in the front, so I added a 5mm spacer and I was able to get 8 full turn for the lug and torque them to spec.
How ever i am still very sketch with a 5mm spacer with oem stud. my question is would 8 full turn be good enough, or should i swap them out for a 3mm spacer? my worry is the 3mm might not give it enough room to clear PS: wheel size is 17x8 48. im rubbing because I have neg camber up front, with oem struts Thanks! |
How much neg camber? At that offset you can go 15mm and skip the stock studs.

I don't really care for flush fitment. I'm just hoping the 3 mm will clear the strut seat. Did some research online and people say 8 turn on the lug is fine. So I'm not sure if I should keep my 5mm or not |
General rule of thumb:
The length of thread engagement in a steel nut should be equal to or greater than one full diameter of the bolt. m12 1.25 m12=12mm 1.25x8(turns)=10mm Answer=no Many people run 5mm... and the real answer can be found if you were an engineer and knew what material the lug nuts/studs were made out of and did some formulas. ^edit... On other cars that have m12 1.5, 8 turns would be 12mm of engagement. |
I'm going to try a 3mm tomorrow and see if it rub
I'm definitely not a big fan of any sort of spacer but to get them to fit without rub either I have to run a small spacer or get a different set of wheel with a lower offset. Love my current set up its hard to find something better :( |

If you have extra time and money, I would change the studs. Eibach and H&R sells 10mm longer studs with 10mm spacer. I used Eibach and my tires clear the strut tower even with -2 negative camber. Just another peace-of-mind option.
To add another option - B2 Auto Designs sells extended studs I'm currently running them and they held fine even on track condition. |

Im going to grab Ichiba v2 15mm hub adaptor spacer all around. I have about an inch of extrusion on the hub of my after market wheel. so it should fit nicely! also I can run a wider 245! |
