Is it safe to run with a stripped interior?

I wanted to strip the rear backseats and speaker panels for the summer because its a racecar (this part is sarcasm). I don't want to remove the curtain airbags though, and I'm worried that the airbag might go off if someone accidentally punches a sensor.

Are airbag sensors smart enough to not go off in that case? And is it the yellow plug near the speakers?

You will be fine. It will be ugly as hell but nothing will get set off.

remove rear seats and put in place a roll cage. Now its a serious racecar

Lol this post is so contradictory.

You claim race car, but want airbags. So what you really want to do is look cool while you're parked at a brzworld meet?

Original post edited because sarcasm was not detected.

Are we talking Top Gear S24E01 here ? And also Top Gear Extra Gear S02E01

(These are episodes containing a new, Red Toyota 86, in which interior panels, including headliner have been removed, roll cage installed)

Thank God for file sharing.

Okay, sarcasm aside, why do you want to do this? And why only for the summer?

I just think it looks cool. Noone sits back there anyways, but if it's unsafe I'm not gonna do it.

Ah, yes. The "I trashed my interior and can't afford to replace it" look. Very cool.

Like I said before there is nothing unsafe about it really. Just sort of a goofy thing to do for no benefit.

Not exactly the same league as pulling the seat and side panels and leaving it all open. If I didn't have to use the seats every now and then I would be looking into that delete. It is pretty.
