Nintendo Switch

Got mine today, anybody else? So excited to play Zelda tonight!!!

Summerwolf 03-03-2017 09:52 AM

I decided not to waste the money. Really wasn't impressed with anything being offered, and kind of surprised Nintendo is trying to "innovate" rather than actually make a real console.

I thought it was $350CAD but EB has the price at $400CAD.

Zelda comes with it right?

I haven't touch my Famicom Mini for a while now so I figure I would save money this time around.

tennisfreak 03-03-2017 10:14 AM

No way I'm spending $400 for one game on a console with such limited storage and short battery life.

Has expandable storage for SD cards. Yeah battery is about 3 hours for when the system isnt docked. Not happy about that but atleast it takes usb C, so basically anything can charge it

To be fair, three hours is actually pretty good for what's supposed to be a psuedo-portable console that can play full-on console games.

Still, $300 USD (according to Nintendo's site) is a bit much. Unlike with the Wii U, however, this time around, I'm tempted to buy a Switch since it actually has some really interesting exclusives I want to try out (TLOZ: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Oddysey).

Couldn't you use a portable battery pack like you would with a smartphone?

Correct! it uses a USB-C Port so you can charge it with any battery pack

Just read they locked down the file system pretty good.

Apparently your game saves are literally tied to the unit.

Something happens to that unit and you start over. No cloud saves, no saving to sd card, NADA.

Nail in coffin.

I'm hoping they change that...

A few of the ways it's locked down is ridiculous.

Geez, that's dumb. They have to change that if they want this console to be successful, unless they want to walk the path of the Dreamcast and turn into just a video game company.

Oh well, it might not be an issue for me if all I'm interested in is BOTW and SMO. I'm really hoping that they really take advantage of their numerous other IPs besides slapping them all in another Smash Bros. game.

Still a better idea than Microsoft's always online, DRM fiasco.

True, but at least Microsoft threw that idea out the window as soon as they received universal backlash for it.

I hope Nintendo does the same with this one.
