I'm getting the same problem too. The dealership has already cleared these twice. And I have as well. Exact same codes. P117F and P219A. I really hope it's the O2 sensor like wrh3 said earlier. My car is new as well. Just hit the 16,000km (don't use miles in Canada) mark on my 86.

P119F P219A CEL

Just got the car last week brand new 2017 brz sport tech MANUAL
2nd day at around 100Km engine light came on with P119F P219A
the light went away before by itself after a day

it came back on again the second week. went to the dealership and they scanned it with the same code i got from my obdII scanner.

They still don't know what the cause is yet. Need to bring it back in for another appointment.

The 1st time it came on temperature is around 30 c degree and a bit humid.

2nd time it came on temperature is around 30 c degrees and humid as well.

I think the heat has to do with it. and i don't know if it's only an 6 speed model issue only. Anyone who has this problem, is your car 6 speed?

I know the 6 speed's air filter is different than the automatic.

It started happening when it was stock. All that I've changed is suspension though. No engine/power related mods.

Those codes indicate fueling issue
Could be a number of things 02 sensor and air leak in in intake or exhaust maf sensor fuel pressire or pump problem.

Dealer needs to do some diagnostics not just clear the codes

How to diagnose their are two videos we have air fuel sensors.thar read actual afr not just richer or leaner than 14.7 but concept is same., Maybe the dealer should watch these :-)

Had a very similar issue on a brand new 2015. Ended up being a bad wiring connection to one of the port injectors. Took 2 dealers ~3 months to figure it out. Im hoping this isnt indicative of a bad batch of wiring harnesses on the 2017's.

mrderp 10-04-2017 01:37 PM

Could be fun to compare build date from the affected cars.

sirsol66 10-04-2017 01:39 PM

One thing to note: P119F is not just an imbalance, but "Bank 1 Air-Fuel Ratio Imbalance for Direct Injection". Toyota says to check:

Fuel injector assembly (for direct injection)
Intake system
Gas leaks from exhaust system
Ignition system
Compression pressure
Air fuel ratio sensor
ECM

p119 + P219A

from canada.
see my previous post about the car spec.

dealer will replace the ECU or ECM(computer unit). Not sure if this will fix the issue.

Hey sorry if this is off topic but what obd2 reader/device do you guys recommend. I've been shopping around but and recommendations would be helpful. I need one that I is its own device or plays well with iphone

Do you know what other diagnostics they did? I just went through TQCN to see what the fix for this is, and ECU/ECM replacement is not even in the solution tree. Basically it entails identifying the problem cylinder, checking its compression, checking its fuel injectors, and then checking the wiring to the injectors.

funpolice 10-04-2017 05:20 PM

just came back from the dealer. they are not 100% certain ecu replacement will fix the issue. but it's the 1st step. and they know the ecu is sending 'faulty signals'

I just wanted to add that I have a 17 BRZ. 2,000 miles, throwing both P117F and P219A. These just popped up this week, I haven't had time to investigate further.

Check the DI seals & oxygen sensor. The two confirmed fixse I've seen for these two CEL's on a 17+ 86 involved replacing the lower teflon seal on one of the DI injectors, or tightening a loose 02 sensor. You may be able to check by spraying water directly on the base of the DI seal and see if bubbles form or not.
