Corvairs (Damnit Ultra)

So, I have been on a quest for a very particular version of a 69 Dart for a few years and have given up hope of ever finding one. Tonight @Ultramaroon put the thought in my head to get myself another 65-69 Corvair. The prices seem to be right where I am willing to pay for a weekend cruising toy so now I am shopping. Anybody know of one local to them? Prefer a convertible and the Corsa trim but a nice clean Monza would not be ruled out.

There are a few online so I may have to make a road trip in the near future or may see if some locals can check things out for me. I would reward you with my undying gratitude.

Where would we find one that lived in the U.S. Southwest?

Well one of the two may show up on here at some point!

OH I know all the search engines. I have searched for that damned perfect Dart for years . The problem is that I may actually find something I want this time around since I am not as picky on it but really can't travel to see each possible one. Nothing beats boots on the ground for this sort of thing.

There is a Corvair locally that had a for sale sign in it last summer. Hardtop with a 4-speed...I want to say a Corsa, but I'm not sure. I'll start asking around to see if I can find out any more info. What were you looking for in a Dart? 340 Swinger? There are a couple of Mopar collectors locally, but their stuff is usually Big $ rare stuff. One has a couple of Superbirds in his collection, the other has some Hemi cars and a beautiful 340 six pack T/A 'cuda. If you give me specifics on the Dart, I can check with them to see if they know of one similar.

Nice one currently on Bring A Trailer.

A lot of the owners are willing to answer questions and take specific pictures.
I can't help drooling over some of the nice examples of rolling art.

Was looking for a GTS with a 383 or 440. They are around but they are way out of the price range I wanted to pay for a weekend toy. Could get a "tribute" one with a transplant engine way cheaper but I don't do clones.

That is a beauty but I am not ready to jump into an auction right this minute. I am not in a hurry so can take my time and shop around for just the exact one I want. I have spent many an hour on Bring a Trailer with a little pool of drool developing on my desk.

I hold you personally responsible for 2.3 hours of lost posts.

Ahh...Big block Dart...not the easiest thing to find (at least for a reasonable price). I'll check with Delbert/Glen, but most of their cars are B and E-bodies. They may know of one, though...the Mopar guys are a pretty tight bunch. There is a GTS around, but it is a 340/auto ragtop.

Corvairs are nice looking cars (especially 'the '65-up coupes, IMO)...really nice lines and those skinny roof pillars. A stinger would be awesome...

What's the cool suspension setup for one? All Nader jokes aside, stock suspension is pretty wonky.

For a Corvair, I mean...

They resolved the suspension issues in the second gen so it is only the 60 to 64s that had the wonky ones. The 65s and up were very different and had no issues. Not interested in the 60 to 64s anyway since they were butt ugly.

Knew a guy with a Corvair with a Fitch Ventop on it. From then on, Corvairs haven't looked right to me without the flying buttresses.
