Anyone in the East Bay with Tactrix Open Port 2?

First post!

I recently purchased a 2013 BRZ 6MT from a private party. I have noticed low idle, 700 RPM and dips to 400 periodically. Seems to be a fairly common issue with early manufacture dates, mine is 05/12. I think this issue was corrected in a newer ECU than I currently have.

Current: ZA1JA00C

From reading this excellent post, it looks like I can update all the way to ZA1JB01C, which will hopefully resolve the issue.

I was wondering if any locals have experience reflashing with EcuFlash and/or have an Open Port 2? I wish I could just take it to a dealer but they are stonewalling until I pay the $150-ish full diagnostic fee. The car is out of it's 3 yr warranty.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome! I don't know of anyone locally with the Tactrix cable. A lot more local guys have the Ecutek cable or the Open Flash Tablet/cable.

I know it's more money out of your pocket, but consider getting the OFT. It will not only let you upload the newer roms/cal ID's, but also get a little extra performance out of even a stock motor.

Actually, I have a tactrix openport, spent 120$ on it and have the oft maps, roms and cal ID's since its all off the shelf maps. I love OFT as a whole so i highly recommend an oft but if you want to dive more into tuning and engine performance and how everything ties together then a tactrix is 100% for you. Good luck man!
