Loving My Brand New 86, but Here's a Weird Question
I'm loving my day old Toyota 86, but here's a weird question....
Is it just me or is the steering wheel really slippery? I know they redesigned it for 2017. Was it like this in years past? Do I need to wrap it? I'm honestly afraid it's going to slip out of my hands at times. |

It sounds like it gets better over time.
The perforated wheel on the FRS seems to grip better. |
Give it some time. The dealer may have slathered it with Armor All or something similar.
|
Mine seems fine, not slipping...I like what they've done...seems like it will hold up better over time and not wear so quickly. Could be the dealer put something on it as others have said.

you can countersteer faster now

Sure it's not BBQ from your hands?
Give it a wipe down with some of the moist towelettes. :sigh: |
It sucks. I think it is dangerously slippery, and in a car designed to be operated with "enthusiasm", making the thing that slick is stupid.

Hell, it even looks slippery in a pic! http://st.automobilemag.com/uploads/...g-wheel-02.jpg I even prefer really old school over the feel of that although like anything I would probably get used to it eventually. http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6144/6...885d42ed_z.jpg |

The steering wheel needs to be "seasoned".
Put a toddler behind the wheel with a lap full of snacks, for about 45 minutes ...... wipe off excess. OR :D humfrz |
y'all are badly in need of some hand moisturizing. Your hands are probably like sandpaper. Lotion those babies

Was just at the autoshow Saturday night and this new steering wheel just doesn't have the same sure feel grip as the old one regardless of how slippery the new leather is. IMO the leather on it is too thick like with modern Bimmers. I much prefer the old design.
