FRS E85 OFT Popping
Hello ft86,
I have a 2013 Scion Frs. The only modifications done to this car are a perrin intake tube, and perrin drop in filter. This car also has the latest high pressure fuel pump. E level reads E75. I am running the OFT EL E85 Stage 2 a01c map. On cold starts even tho its above 50 degree Fahrenheit here, The car wants to stumble and pop. VIDEO: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOhA0mG3yho"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOhA0mG3yho[/ame] From doing forum searches it sounds like some common issues with cold starts under 40F, the car may die on the first or second try. Not seeing so much info about popping. Would modifying the cranking tables help this issue? Thanks for the help. |
I've only experienced warm-up popping -- and not nearly to this level -- when at below-freezing temps.
Possible DI seal failure? |
Hmmm strange.
If its only popping and stumbling on startup then its unlikely to be DI seal problem. If its popping out of intake when warm then that's an indication of DI Seal issues. Check out your LTFT if their greater than 10% then you likely have exhaust or intake leak or some other issue , if your seeing like 20% plus trims you either got petrol on your last fill with E85 tune or running wrong tune ie petrol tune on E85 also log AFR vs Commanded AFR and make sure that looks ok. if that looks ok I would modify the cranking IPW tables Idle tables Maf compensation after start see wayno's posts here section on E85 cold start and Quiet start mods http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94822 |
Thanks for the fast response guys!
The popping and stumbling on startup is only on cold start. If the car has ran , half warm, full warm, no issues exists. LTFT is right around +3.5% STFT is around +9% on the cold start process. E% at rail was E75. Using latest oft updates/tunes. Stage 2 el e85 A01C. About how much would you modify the cranking tables? Or would you mind modifying the .bin and sending it over. Currently don't have romraider and everything installed on this new laptop. Again Thanks. |
Sounds like you need Wayno's adjustments.

Update: After working on this problem with steve99, I am glad to announce we got it resolved. By modifying cranking IPW tables, Idle tables, Maf scaling.
I know get nice reliable starts with no popping. The lower quite idle is great. This is how oft tune should come. If anyone is experiencing issues like this feel free to send me a message. Admin can close now. |
