2017 86 Car Alarm
I went to a meet the other day and someone asked me if my car had a car alarm.
I thought... Yeah, why wouldn't my new car have an alarm.. Well... My car doesn't have an alarm?? lol Can anyone confirm.. 2017 86. Nothing in the owner's manual talks about "arming" an alarm. Might look into Viper, or does anyone else have an alarm system that can sync with their phone for GPS tracking purposes? |

No, they don't have alarm. 2017 86 still have the same pattern as a regular FR-S.

Is there an alarm on the software and it's just disabled? Can possibly be enabled with obd2 --> computer connection? Other than that.. Does anybody have shock alarm recommendations? Possibly with a tracker? |
Nop ! The BCM (Body computer module) is not equipped with that function sadly.
Only the high level BRZ have an OEM car alarm. |

For 2017 Toyota is only offering the base model in the USA which doesn't have a factory alarm. Only the Limited models (Scion RS Models) have a factory alarm. |
Basically, if the car has OEM push-start then it has an alarm.

Ehh the factory alarm isn't really anything to rave about. You can easily get an aftermarket alarm that will work just as well if not better.
|
Do people still pay attention to car alarms, other than to get pissed off at the noise?

Based on the manual -- as long as you have remote keyless entry, you should have an alarm system. However the feature is disabled by default and need to be enabled:
Also I found my MY17 car's alarm is left at default (e.g. alarm off) from dealer. Here are the steps to turn it on: - close all doors and trunk - push button to on - open driver side door at least to first latch while holding the door lock button - continue to hold button for 10 seconds - 1x horn chirp means alarm is active - 2x means it's disabled - make sure the door is opened enough as a little gap will not trigger the change |
I have a 2016 FRS series 2.0 and today while sitting in the driveway light rain the alarm went off. It's been in torrential downpours and nada-nuttin. could a cat jumping on the hood set it off? I got within 5' of it and it stopped.
I didn't think it had an alarm. I'm confused! |
