License plate trunk rattle

Anyone have an elegant solution to anchoring down the bottom of the license plate? I can't handle the rattle every time I shut the trunk. I tried 3M doublesided tape, the good stuff that holds body trim on but that wasn't up to the task. I don't really want to drill a hole through the trunk lid but that is the next step, makes the car sound like a forty year old civic every time I close the trunk.

Go to home depot and get some of the weather stripping and put it on the license plate in between the plate itself and the trunk. I did that when I first got my plates and I don't get any rattle. If you have a plate from on it, I would also suggest putting some in between that and the plate. It definitely helps a lot if you have the boom boom box in the back.

I did exactly what thatfilipinoguy did, and the only rattle I get, is when I shut the trunk now, if I don't close by pushing on the plate.

You could use those stick-on floor pads designed to protect wood floors from chair legs. They're available at Staples, Target - all over, really. Place the sticky side against the back of the license plate. The soft side will be against the body fender. Put as many as you want on there - they work pretty good.

But they don't stick to other side, and isn't that needed to reduce rattle?

They don't need to stick to both surfaces, it just needs to be a buffer between the plate and the trunk. the weather stripping I found was better since its soft and won't scratch your paint on the trunk.
