Whats my yellow series production number?

Just picked up a yellow series. Is there any way I can find out what number of the 500 I am?

NURTLE 02-13-2017 09:11 AM

following as i am hoping to pick me up one this weekend and that would be something cool to know. if the stars align just right haha

lawlei 02-13-2017 09:27 AM

yea that'd be cool. Wish they would number them like the rs1.0 FRS.

For some reason Subaru doesn't do this for their special editions. There's a guy who made a list of the hyperblues according to VIN who said he would do the series.blues as well, but I don't think he ever got around to it.

Ranatsu 02-15-2017 12:24 PM

I would imagine the last 3 numbers in the VIN will tell you which one you are. Mine is 225.

NURTLE 02-15-2017 01:09 PM

i dont think thats it because the one im waiting on to arrive at the dealer this week the website says the vin ends in 510... only 500 are made?

That's assuming they started at VIN "1000" and made them all in one go. We don't know when in the sequence they started producing or if they were making regular ones at the same time.

Mine is 1109.

Ghost of Akina 02-15-2017 02:30 PM

Yeah I don't think it works because mine would be 1662...

With the difference between our VINs being > 500, that would lead me to believe that they didn't produce them all in one go and that regular models broke up the sequence somewhere OR that the 500 was for the US market and Canada got its own separate allotment of 50. Just my speculations though...:iono:

Ranatsu 02-16-2017 12:29 AM

Seems strange for them to not just make them all at once seeing as how they equipped them all identically. Subaru being Subaru.

Veloist 02-17-2017 12:13 AM

I made the complete list for the Series.HyperBlues. For the Series.Blue, I have 700 down so I need 300 more.

I'll do the Series. Yellow, some dealers haven't got them yet but I could complete it beginning of March if I was motivated lol.

That would be awesome! How are you able to get the actual production number?

Actually, it's more of an inventory control issue.

If they planned to make 1500 but they're selling at a rate of 150/month, they'd stagger production so enough supply is allocated to dealers as to not gap out on shipments.

No manufacturer in their right mind will make all 1500 "special edition" cars in one shot unless 1) it's all sold, or 2) it'll be sold in next 3 months.

Out of curiosity, do we have any information on how quickly Series.Yellow is selling compared to previous series? I looked at the inventory pages of several dealers around me, and most of them seem to have 1-2 Series.Yellow BRZs in stock. My general impression is that perhaps Yellow isn't selling as quickly as Hyperblue did, but you guys most likely have more insight into this.

It is February. The car showed up in January. It isn't odd that sales are slow at this time of year.If I am not mistaken the blue came out in the middle of summer.

Ah right. That makes sense.

The359 02-22-2017 11:39 PM

1299 for my Series.Yellow

They definitely didn't make all 500 in one go, the assembly line has Toyotas and Subarus coming off at the same time, they'd just be mixed in the queue like any other car.

allegiance2me 04-14-2017 10:54 PM

228 is mine

I emailed SOA a couple of weeks back and they said that there was no order, list or anything for the 500 Series.Yellows out there.

As of right now Cargurus has 132 Series.Yellows listed nationwide. When I bought my car in Feb the number was in the high 200's. So far this is the best method I have found to see how many are left.
https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...sModified=true

I was under the impression that SOA made a majority of the Series. Yellow first. When I was shopping in January the dealership that had the 2017's had the Yellows and slivers/grays. I didn't see a lot of Blues and Reds until recently. But what do I know...

Vin last (3) 056 checking in.

TachyonBomb 05-23-2017 02:53 PM

Don't think it really matters if the numbering isn't in order but the last 3 of my vin are 666

Ernest72 05-28-2017 09:30 AM

Its first or last that would matter years from now, if anyone cares as these are not likely collectible cars. Any number in between won't matter much. My cousin had a yellow charger R/T from 2006 number 251 out of X number, when he sold it not much of a bump in price. Not trying to rain on your parade, just go enjoy your nice car.

In 2006 there were 10,831 'limited edition' chargers made, 4,295 of which were yellow.

From 2006-2015 there were a total of 71,768 'limited edition' chargers produced...

https://cms.chrysler.fcaperformancei...irst-time-ever

There are 500 series.yellows in the US and 50 in Canada. And every previous 'series' were 1,000 plus cars. It's a little different...

Its a Subaru. Yes the Japanese market for classics is coming up, but these are not collectible. Does not mean the cars not worth the premium, as they are pretty sweet. Remember demand is low for these cars, demand will be low in the classic market as well, many years from now.

So, would there be any way to motivate you, say with cookies and/or PayPal? I'm planning a custom project, and I would require my production number for it!

I'm gonna get to it because I'm curious to know the color distribution of the BRZ tS so it wouldnt make sense to leave out the series.yellow!

to help me start, can you guys throw out the last 4 digits of your VIN? because the series.yellow production starts in the middle of the 2017 production run, i dont know where to begin the VIN search haha. If about 10-15 I should have a good idea where to begin.

My VIN's last 4 digits: 1109

TachyonBomb 11-20-2017 07:13 PM

People that have given last 4 digits of VIN:

Ghost of Akita: ................ 1662
The359: ......................... 1299
EthirtyPDX: .................... 1753
Misfire: .......................... 1109
TachyonBomb: ............... 1666

People That have only given last 3 digits of VIN:

*Name:......(Last 3 given).....(Last 4 if we assume 1 is in front of last 3 digits)*

Ranatsu: ...................... X225 .......... 1225
BRZ FTW: .................... X236 .......... 1236
artongdou: .................. X261 .......... 1261
Azzudien: .................... X966 .......... 1966
allegiance2me: ............ X228 .......... 1228
iluvdrt: ....................... X056 .......... 1056

Veloist,

If you assume that the people who have responded with the last digits of their VIN have the number one preceding those last 3 digits then you will have a sample size of (11). Some where there is another thread asking for series yellow VINs which contains a few more but I'm not really trying to look all that up at the moment.

dhuang 11-21-2017 04:28 AM

I'm 601408

Digits 12 - 17 of a North American VIN pertain to the production number of the car.

Last 4 of vin 1510 purchased 02/17/17

#1828 Reporting for duty.

Veloist 11-22-2017 11:16 PM

1106 was the earliest I found with a production date of 11/22/2016. Recorded about 50 today so I am 10% done. I think I’ll be able to finish it rather soon.

Also there are still about 9 unsold/untitled Series.Yellows
