Thought it sounded too easy a fix but worth a try and $350 sounds like expensive for cutting out one resonator and replacing it with another. Perhaps I'm wrong and it's reasonable.

I have the same issue with the Tomei UEL, SME op, Nameless HF catted FP with helmholtz, and Namelees AB with 4" resonators.

Sounded great when OEM headers but WAY too loud with the Tomei. Had to resort to refitting OEM AB.

Not 100% happy with the tone/note, sounds kind of metallic thanks to the helmholtz, but a least I don't fear being put off the road every time I pass a police car. Still has some rumble but volume is much reduced.

With a tune performance seems every bit as good as the Nameless.
Put your OEM back on if you can till you can find a fix and at least you won't have a continual headache.

What's the actual OD of the OEM midpipe 2.25" or 2.5".

Its been a few days now and it sounds much better. Its still loud but it doesnt have that annoying tone to it so my only problem atm is the cold start

Please re-read my suggestions. My new system is as quiet or quieter than stock was. And works well with my supercharger and e-85. What I did is all bolt on you can do your self.

OpenFlash Tune will drop the cold start revs and make it a lot quieter.

Yes virtually impossible to find the perfect note once headers are on the car. Catless anyway. Catted headers might be a different story.

The Vibrant Ultra Quiet method sounds like a solution but can't seem to find Vibrant being available in Oz. Can buy of Amazon and have here for about $200 oz.

Just have to climb under car to measure and see where I can get one welded in.

If you're describing a metallic buzz around 2k -3k you may want to check if the expansion joints on the header are contacting the alloy skid plate. I had this with my PSR headers. If its happening, you can see the marks looking down through the engine (ie no need to remove skid plate)
Easily fixed with a hammer and punch.
I posted about it somewhere here if you need photos.

I too was in the same predicament as @Armin93 a while back with the UEL header & Perrin CB, best solution was the stock CB. Still I wanted a little more noise but less than before so I managed to find an STI AB which opened up the noise hwy again but not as loud as Perrin. I had an additional resonator in the midpipe added which helped a little by taking some of the bark away and I guess it become livable to me as a DD although it's not one atm. What I'm trying to say is there's very little room under our cars for big midpipes & the best way to shut her up is probably the rear mufler as the stocky does it really well.

Another thing to note is you need to give exhausts a few thousand kms to carbon up & re-evaluate noise levels then.

lk

I think ppl are way too quick to judge their new exhaust systems.
The stock exhaust on my new brz sounded terrible until i had done abt 700km and a long country drive. Now it sounds completely different and so much better.
Was raspy and tinnie but now has a much deeper roar.

Yes you can.

I have PSR UEL's and Tanabe cat back, it's rather loud on song.

But with a tune, you can fix the cold start, Mine is pretty quiet while its warming up. ;)

( https://youtu.be/NWG-drccQWw this is my exhaust for comparison, just make sure you listen on a something thats got some proper speakers, not a phone or laptop!)

So is mine after a tune. Pre tune used to shake the garage and at 6am made for one very shitty wife and angry neighbours.
After tune warmup lasts about 1 min and is a lot of decibels quieter.
