I Survived But The FR-S Is In Heaven

So, I found out what a real car accident is like...

Went to Packwood autocross last summer, which is like 6 hours and change from me.

First autocross, was a blast, but things went downhill from there. Had planned to drive to PDX which is two hours from home and stay with a friend. Little too much energy and at 2am I decided I might as well drive the rest of the way home.

That's all I remember (some of that even vaguely).

Evidently I made it about 75 miles before I fell asleep on I-5 and ran into the back of a log truck at a decent MPH difference. Not sure exactly what happened, but it started with me hitting the truck, and ended with a caved in roof and my car in a farmer's field beside the freeway.

Broke my skull, two neck vertebrae, facial bones, almost my entire hand, and a few odds and ends. Dislocated my shoulder in two places, and did significant nerve damage to my entire arm, which still hasn't healed. Got a hernia that grew huge before they found it. I still have an open 8" wound because they want it to heal from the inside out. Very annoying.

I had to learn to speak again, and I have only a few fleeting memories from between that night in August and the end of December. My memory won't come back, but at least I've gotten better at retaining new memories.

Anyway, so that's why I've been gone. I'd post some pics of the car post-wreck, but some people might not want to see a FR-S that way! So, Packwood pics I never posted!

Post-wreck pics below

Holy cow, glad you survived. I hear driving sleepy is just as bad as driving drunk.

Inb4 where's the part-out thread?

It must have been just about as bad. Can't imagine not remembering to avoid the semi if I'd been 100%. I'll never know what happened exactly though.

My insurance company got a hold of the car before I was mentally able to assist with that process. I've got a few parts I never got the chance to put on the car that I'll sell here soon, but the car was pretty much gone in the farmer's field, but really gone now.

that sucks, but glad you survived to tell the tale. too many others don't.

Pics of the wrecked car are always a good wake up call (no pun intended) for others! If they make one person think twice before doing the same thing it is worth posting them.

Oh I died... :) Well, stopped breathing anyway, heart didn't stop. So now I get another scar on my neck from when they went in through the windpipe.

I'm so glad I don't remember it. Turns out I was a real ass at the hospital too. I must have been just frustrated that I needed things and I couldn't communicate. Or, maybe that's just how I really am.

Wishing you a full recovery...

Glad you made it!

@FNCrazy best of luck in your recovery, that's a rough penalty to pay for one bad decision (that most of us have made and escaped at one point).

grats on beating death!

seriously though, glad you're mostly okay
