17% LTFT. Checked for leaks and none.
Hi guys,
I'm currently running open flash headers + stg2 tune + trd exahust. I have an automatic frs. I am getting high ltft. I am sure I am using 91 octane fuel and using the stage2 tune map. I'm not sure how to fix the problem. Me and my friend checked for exhaust leaks and there were none. We took out the headers and also used new gaskets and that did not fix our problem. Next, we checked if there was a vacuum leak. My friend suggested spraying brake fluid at certain locations while my car is turned on and my engine did not rev up. Sounds like you just need to get your MAF scaled. Stop messing with all that other dumb stuff and save yourself the headache. Get a tune. |
Stock intake ?
if you got no intake or exhaust leaks, check catch cans check 02 sensors screwed in all the way ring should not be loose, use thread chaser to clean up header bungs if necessary and no o2 spacers its got classic signs of leak though high fuel trims at lower rpm and ok at mid upper rpm where leak has less effect then rescale maf |
He is tuned. This is not a MAF scaling issue.
It's worse at idle speeds, when pulling it goes lower. Your AFR looks good. Looks like a vacuum leak. What kind of intake do you have and have you recently done anything to it? Do you have a oil catch can? |

If you had a vacuum leak big enough to cause +20% fuel trims, your car would be idling high in neutral / park.
You 100% sure there are no leaks on the intake after the MAF? MAF screwed in securely? All couplers on the intake tight? Are you running stock or an aftermarket intake? The OFT maps are tuned for OEM intakes, so if you are running an aftermarket intake, that is your issue. In that case, get a custom tune done as recommended above. Otherwise we need more info on your full setup to help. |
How'd you check for exhaust leaks? I had similar symptoms and it took a vacuum on the tailpipe and a tube to my ear to find any leaks. More than an inch away with the tube and I couldn't hear it. A small leak near the O2 sensor (before or after) will get swamped out while running hard but will show up in a hurry as soon as you lift, and at idle.

This is how I checked for exhaust leaks: Tape both tail pipes and blew a vaccum through. I use soapy water and sprayed everywhere. Way before, i noticed there was a small leak in the donut gasket(there was bubbles) for the headers so I replaced that, and double checked that spot twice,at two different moments, and there was no leak there. When we fixed that leak, that did not change my ltft at all. |
