Program Car Key?
 

Hi, We have a 2015 Series 1 FR-S (Push button Start), has anyone re-programmed the car for a key? I found these directions online for the BRZ which I'm assuming would be similar. Can anyone confirm?

Remotes can be programmed manually as follows:

1. In drivers kick panel there is 2 white service connectors for Central Locking, these have black and black/blue wires in them and are male/female connectors with blade terminals.

2. Connect the C/L service connectors together and with the car unlocked and the door shut, press the unlock nutton followed by the lock button on the remote- the doors should lock and unlock to confirm remote regisatration process.

3. Repeat operation for all remotes then remove service connector to close the system.

Note- all keys must be present at the time of coding to prevent them being deleted

New key or old keys?
Look for instructions for how they do Lexuses. Did my car that way.

No kick panels etc.

Do not know where you found that info but it is not that simple. If it was every unlocked car in the country would soon be missing! There is the immobilizer to consider and from the sounds of things even the dealer has to jump through some hoops for that.

Used this guide on a 2013 GT86, programmed my new keys.
You do need the old keys to add a new one.

Yes. Using Techstream is how the dealers do it. That is NOT the same as hooking two wires together and pushing two buttons. How many people have Techstream?

Anyone with internet and can google has Techstream?

OK, some more info. Recently purchased the car (2015 Series 1 (Push Button Start)) and came with one key. The used car dealer had another FR-S key laying around from a previous car (so it has been programmed). Took it to the Toyota Dealer and was quoted $118 to program the car to the key. The Dealer then told me that they could not reprogram the key since it had previously been linked to another vehicle. They then offered to sell me a new key for $380. When they went back to parts to check, they then told me that the $380 was incorrect and would have to order one for $500. I'm guessing the high price, since this may be a Subaru system and not Toyota? If so, can a BRZ key be programmed to this car? Spoke with the original Dealer who sold us the car who claims the key have gave us can be wiped and then re-programmed. I dont know how many keys the car can be paired to, and the thought of wiping the car and re-programming the car to the keys (including the original) doesn't sit too well with me. So what is the best way to do this? Also, if I can reprogram the key to the car can I purchase just the laser cut key for it separately?

sorry to bring an old topic, i'm trying to buy a chip that i can program. I have techstream able to delete and reprogram old valet key, but can't seem to add new chip. any idea why

Where did you get the chip? I ordered a generic remote, blade and chip and was able to program the remote and cut the key but never could get the chip to pair. I think the problem is the chip I got is blank. There is a tool called the Magic Wand which you can find on ALIExpress that can program these chips. I think after it's programed it will then be recognized in Techstream. The tool is about $60 but is totally worth the cost if it works. One of these days I will give it a shot.

I got it from eBay and Amazon g chip, did you ever successfully program the chip(transponder) I call TOYOTA dealer charge $100 for valet key and 120 for program it’s mess up. Talk about mess up key with chip cost about 10 program can’t be that difficult

No I haven’t gotten mine programmed yet. I also got my chip off amazon. I think the Magic Wand will do the trick. I just haven’t ordered it yet. I really need to though because I’m down to one key and if I loose it it becomes a big pain.
